Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Your Impact

Own and accelerate the permitting process for Axon’s ALPR infrastructure deployments by eliminating roadblocks before they surface. This role turns complexity into clarity—guiding customers through regulatory hurdles, standardizing scalable workflows, and enabling compliant, high‑velocity installations across the U.S.

What You’ll Do

Location: Remote + 30% travel required.
Reports to: Director, Professional Services

As a Project Manager at Axon, you are a national permitting authority—driving strategy, reducing risk, and steering deployment teams through the complex landscape of multi‑jurisdictional approvals. You’ll work at the intersection of public safety, engineering, and local government—serving as a trusted advisor for both internal teams and external agencies.

This position demands deep regulatory knowledge, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to design scalable processes for high‑volume deployments. You’ll lead engagement with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), oversee national compliance, and de‑risk field operations long before equipment hits the ground.

Key Responsibilities
  • Authority Engagement
    • Build and maintain proactive relationships with permitting and zoning officials nationwide
    • Interpret, anticipate, and influence local and regional permitting dynamics
    • Act as the regulatory liaison between Axon and AHJs
  • Strategic Permit Leadership
    • Own end‑to‑end permitting workflows across multiple states and municipalities
    • Design, implement, and maintain scalable tracking and reporting tools
    • Optimize permitting timelines in alignment with ALPR project schedules
  • Risk & Regulatory Navigation
    • Identify permitting barriers early and implement mitigation strategies
    • Translate code frameworks (NEC, NFPA, local zoning) into deployment‑ready requirements
    • Partner with compliance and legal teams to ensure documentation and approvals are audit‑ready
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
    • Act as a core partner to engineering, deployment, legal, and customer success
    • Provide permitting forecasts and impact guidance to project teams
    • Advocate for permitting considerations during early‑stage project planning
What You Bring
  • 4+ years managing infrastructure, utility, or construction permitting in enterprise or public‑sector environments
  • Demonstrated expertise with NEC, NFPA, zoning, environmental regulations
  • Track record of influencing internal stakeholders and external regulators
  • Certifications such as PMP, ICC Permit Technician, OSHA 30, NFPA, LEED preferred
  • Proficiency in GIS, CAD, Asana, and permit tracking systems
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and process‑building capabilities
  • Proven ability to lead in complex, multi‑jurisdictional environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Permitting & Regulatory
    • Large‑scale permitting leadership across jurisdictions
    • Deep code knowledge (NEC, NFPA, zoning, environmental)
    • Public safety, DOT, or utility permitting experience preferred
  • Project & Process Management
    • Advanced risk management and issue resolution
    • Permitting workflows for high‑volume infrastructure rollouts
    • Proficiency in tools like Smartsheet, Excel, and Asana
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Skilled communicator across technical and government audiences
    • Able to secure buy‑in and resolve conflicts with AHJs
  • Cross‑Functional Execution
    • Success collaborating across engineering, legal, compliance, and field teams
    • Fast‑paced environment readiness and change agility
  • Tools & Systems
    • GIS, CAD, blueprint interpretation
    • Permit and document control systems
