Trueline's client, an established custom home builder known for high-quality residential construction and a team-oriented culture, is seeking a Project Manager - Custom Home Construction to join their team in the Madison, WI area. This is an opportunity for an experienced residential construction professional to take ownership of high-end custom home projects, build strong relationships with homeowners and trade partners, and see exceptional homes through from contract to completion.
What You’ll Do as the Project Manager - Custom Home Construction:
- Lead custom residential projects from pre-construction and permitting through final walkthrough and warranty.
- Build and manage project schedules, coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, selections, and key milestones.
- Keep homeowners informed throughout the construction process with consistent communication and clear expectations.
- Coordinate with architects, designers, engineers, trade partners, and internal teams to address issues before they impact the project.
- Regularly visit jobsites to monitor progress, craftsmanship, safety, organization, and schedule.
- Manage multiple active projects while maintaining attention to budget, quality, and client experience.
- Drive projects toward a clean, complete turnover with minimal outstanding punch-list items.
- Maintain accurate project information and schedules using Buildertrend or similar construction management software.
Must-Haves as the Project Manager - Custom Home Construction:
- 5+ years of relevant residential construction experience, ideally within custom home building or high-end remodeling.
- Demonstrated experience managing residential construction projects and coordinating multiple trades.li>
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, sequencing, building codes, and jobsite safety.
- Ability to read plans, anticipate construction challenges, and work collaboratively to find practical solutions.
- Excellent organization and follow-through across multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to confidently work directly with homeowners.
- A quality-focused mindset and high standards for finished work.
Nice-to-Haves as the Project Manager - Custom Home Construction:
- Direct experience managing luxury or highly customized residential projects.
- Experience with Buildertrend or comparable construction management software.
- Established knowledge of the Madison-area residential construction market and trade community.
