Job description

Windstar Lines is seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Traveling Project Manager to support the expansion and successful launch of new and existing contract and charter locations. This role requires extensive travel (75%+), strong organizational skills, and the ability to build operations from the ground up. The Traveling Project Manager will serve as the primary liaison between Windstar Lines and its customers, ensuring each new contract is set up efficiently, staffed appropriately, and aligned with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Travel extensively (75% or more) to new and existing contract and charter locations across assigned regions.
  • Lead the setup and launch of new contracts, including operational planning, site readiness, and compliance with company standards.
  • Collaborate directly with customers to understand contract requirements, service expectations, and operational needs.
  • Develop and implement staffing plans for each location, including hiring and onboarding drivers, mechanics, cleaners, dispatchers, general managers, and other essential personnel.
  • Lean on HR and recruiting teams to source, interview, and hire qualified staff.
  • Establish operational processes and ensure all team members are trained and equipped for success.
  • Monitor contract performance during startup and provide hands-on support to ensure a smooth transition to long term general manager.
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges quickly and effectively in fast-paced environments.
  • Maintain strong communication with internal leadership and provide regular updates on project status, risks, and successes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and customer requirements at each location.
  • Assist/Fill-In with any Windstar Lines locations when manager vacancies are present.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5+ years of experience in project management, operations, or transportation/logistics (preferred).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and team‑building skills, with experience hiring and developing staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt quickly in new environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (75%+ required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
