Job summary

ESP Associates, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager to oversee multiple projects for electric utilities, ensuring technical and financial performance, scope, schedule, and safety compliance.

You will manage client relationships and market services to both existing and new clients, coordinating with engineering leads and accounting for reporting and invoicing. Ideal candidates bring a Civil Engineering background, 5–10 years of experience, and PE or PMP certification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 5–10 years of related experience (required)
  • PE license or PMP certification (required)
  • Experience with utility projects or engineering consulting is highly desired
  • Experience in transmission line design and management (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Some travel is required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee technical and financial aspects of multiple projects
  • Manage and develop client relationships and market Pickett’s services
  • Ensure project costs, schedule, scope, and safety performance are within plan
  • Coordinate with Engineering Leads to track and execute deliverables
  • Develop financial controls reports and provide weekly/monthly client/internal reports
  • Interface with client and internal management to report progress, costs, and risks
  • Assist with bid documents, RFP responses, and cost estimates
  • Support marketing with proposal development and scope/budget créerion
  • Write comprehensive and technical project reports
  • Collaborate with Accounting on monthly invoicing and AR
  • Perform other duties as needed

About the Role:

As a Project Manager, your primary duties will be overseeing technical and financial aspects of various projects, managing and developing client relationships, and marketing Pickett’s services to existing and new clients.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Manage various projects for public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities
  • Responsible for overall project performance as well as managing the scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance of each project
  • Ensure project costs, schedule and scope are maintained, including the development of recovery plans, to stay within approved limits
  • Coordinate and work with Engineering Leads and Managers to track and execute client deliverables
  • Develop financial controls reports with Accounting and Project Controls to produce weekly/monthly reports for client and internal review (i.e., Financial Reports, Action Item Lists, Resource loading analysis and schedules, etc.)
  • Interface directly with the client and internal management to report progress, costs, schedule and risks across a portfolio of assigned projects
  • Communicate with clients, internal project teams, multiple disciplines, functional leaders, subcontractors, and support personnel
  • Assist with the preparation of bid documents, development of requests for proposal responses and cost estimates
  • Support Marketing with proposal development, including scope, schedule and budgets
  • Write comprehensive and technical project reports
  • Work with Accounting and Project Controls on monthly client invoicing and accounts receivable
  • Perform other duties as needed

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of related experience (required)
  • PE registration or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (required)
  • Previous project management experience with a utility or engineering consulting firm is highly desired
  • Experience in transmission line design and management (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Some travel is required
