Job summary

Duplantisdesigngroup in Thibodaux is seeking an Architectural Project Manager to oversee commercial, industrial, and municipal design projects. This role involves ensuring project satisfaction for clients while adhering to budget and time constraints.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Architecture, a valid license, and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD are essential.

ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT MANAGER

Reports to: Architectural Senior Project Manager

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Purpose

The Architectural Project Manager is responsible for overall supervision of commercial, industrial, municipal, and various other architectural design & permitting projects. The Project Manager’s focus will be providing utmost satisfaction to the client aligning with Duplantis Design Group’s core values. The Project Manager should strive to ensure projects are completed within the allocated schedule and budget provided. The Architectural Engineering Project Manager is expected to operate projects with a certain degree of autonomy using staff and resources available within DDG’s offices to provide the client with the highest quality of services. The Project Manager should be familiar with project development from preliminary design to development of construction plans to jurisdictional permitting to completion of construction activities. Experience with Client coordination and communication will be fundamental characteristics for the prospective Project Manager. Under general supervision, participates in programming, preliminary design, drafting complete architectural working drawings, estimating, and overseeing comprehensive construction and renovation projects. Coordinated day-to-day project activities and construction contract management with the work of other consultants, ensuring proper interpretation, implementation, and/or modification of plans and specifications.

Activities & Responsibilities
  • Promote DDG's core values, both internally and externally, and comply with the DDG Company Manual.
  • Obtains basic architectural data from documents, occupant interviews, and field measurements.
  • Conducts field measurements and observations as required for renovations, new construction, and space management.
  • Works with clients to program the physical, functional, aesthetic, and budgetary requirements of the project.
  • Assists in preparing the Estimate or Probable Construction Cost and Project Budget
  • Attend meetings with client, consultants, and other staff as required to coordinate project production.
  • Prepares preliminary design sketches and material and color selections for projects as required.
  • Prepares complete architectural working drawings and construction permit documents for stamp and signature; prepares specifications for the purchase of various materials and equipment required for projects.
  • Checks architectural plans and details prior to final review by the Senior Architectural Project Manager.
  • Reviews engineering plans to identify areas of conflict between various discipline’s drawings and specifications and works with other consultants to resolve design problems.
  • Continually monitors the progress and status of construction projects through site visits and discussions with construction supervisors and Client.
  • Meets with Clients throughout the duration of the project and at the conclusion of construction to ensure satisfaction with design and construction; coordinates problem resolution as appropriate.
  • Monitors the fiscal status of projects for budgetary control and accuracy of cost estimates.
  • Checks documents submitted by contractors for conformance to construction documents (Shop Drawings, construction submittals, etc…).
  • Develops and maintains job files to include submittals, change orders, and document modification.
  • Develops and/or prepares required correspondence for all aspects of project programming, design, estimating, bidding, construction, closeout, warranty, and other related issues.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • The Project Manager should be constantly learning and implementing lessons learned from previous assignments.
  • Take initiative to assist the project team with achieving the project objectives and improving the project management processes.
  • Provide guidance to the project team and support the next generation of project staff with mentorship and teaching.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to analyze and assess construction project needs and to define efficient solutions.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Knowledge of building design and construction principles, detailing, processes, methods, techniques, and standards.
  • Knowledge of architectural characteristics of building materials.
  • Knowledge of the principles of energy conservation applicable in building design.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information to draw conclusions.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local building codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of construction permits and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to prepare accurate plans, specifications, and other construction documents.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools.
  • Knowledge of firm’s customer service standards and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a diverse community.
  • Knowledge of construction project budgeting and cost estimating principles.
  • Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to read and understand architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to collect field data and accurately record findings.
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master of Architecture degree from an accredited college or university
  • License to practice architecture
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience or the equivalent thereof.
  • Maintains competency in and serves as major firm resource in field of expertise.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to travel to various project sites.
  • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
