Job summary

IES is seeking a Project Manager to lead complex projects, ensuring execution aligns with safety, quality, schedule and budget. You will coordinate teams, manage resources, and drive performance from initiation to turnover.

The role requires extensive supervisory experience, strong communication with customers and stakeholders, and a proven ability to deliver profitable projects in telecommunications or related fields. Travel to sites within the regional territory is expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6+ years of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years as Lead Communications Technician or similar position.
  • Minimum 5+ years in telecommunications or related technical/construction field.
  • Proficient with a computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
  • Must meet company driving standards.
  • Must demonstrate ability to define a project, scope, estimates and manage tasks to completion.
  • Experience using field tools and reading project documents.

Job description

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, execution, and financial success of assigned projects. This role ensures all contracted work is planned, implemented, and completed in accordance with company and customer requirements, including safety, quality, schedule, and budget expectations. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for customers, oversees project teams, manages resources, and drives project performance from initiation through completion.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Team Management


  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, mentor, and develop project personnel.

  • Manage employee performance and provide recommendations for promotions, compensation changes, and development opportunities.

  • Address employee relations matters in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused, and results-driven team environment.


Project Planning & Execution


  • Oversee all phases of assigned projects to ensure successful delivery.

  • Manage workload distribution and monitor project progress, schedules, and installation activities.

  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and according to customer requirements.

  • Coordinate resources, labor, materials, and subcontractors as needed.


Financial Management


  • Develop, manage, and maintain project budgets and profitability.

  • Review job cost reports and financial data for accuracy and completeness.

  • Oversee invoicing, customer billing, collections, and financial reporting.

  • Monitor project performance to achieve revenue and profit objectives.


Customer Relations


  • Serve as the primary company liaison for customers and stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Communicate project status, resolve concerns, and ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Participate in meetings with customers, vendors, and project stakeholders.


Quality & Safety Oversight


  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Manage quality control processes to ensure work meets customer and company standards.

  • Address and resolve project-related quality or safety issues promptly.

  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.


Process Improvement & Business Development


  • Participate in and support the project bidding and proposal process.

  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and customer service.

  • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery, performance, and profitability.

  • Support company initiatives and strategic objectives.

Qualifications

Physical and Mental Requirements


  • Regular attendance is mandatory

  • The General Superintendent must be self-motivated, positive in approach, and convey an appropriate professional image.

  • The General Superintendent must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.

  • The General Superintendent must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).

  • The General Superintendent must also have excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop branch and job processes and best practices.

  • The General Superintendent must have proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.

  • The General Superintendent must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.

  • The General Superintendent must possess the ability to learn and teach the Company and customer project management systems.

  • The General Superintendent must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.

  • Must be able to stand and walk very large job sites regularly.

  • The General Superintendent must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.


Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements


  • Prefer a minimum of five (5) years’ experience of supervisory or managerial experience.

  • The General Superintendent must have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Lead Communications Technician or similar position.

  • The General Superintendent must also have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field.

  • Must be proficient with a computer and be skilled with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project).

  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.

  • The General Superintendent Must have demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, create an estimate, develop detailed associated tasks and manage these to final completion and customer turnover.

  • Must be able to use the following trade Tools: punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt-ohmmeter, 4-pair continuity tester and 5-gang punch tool.
