Job summary

Jobtailor in Rosemont, IL is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead capital and process improvement initiatives across the aluminum value chain. Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a technical discipline; and 5 years hands‑on experience with a progressive organization working with projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Solid working knowledge of project management theory and practice, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and procurement

Responsibilities

• Lead capital and process improvement projects across all phases from feasibility through design, execution, and completion across the aluminum value chain
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to specification
• Coordinate closely with plant operations, engineering, procurement, and external contractors
• Define project tasks, resource requirements, and staffing plans
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and risk registers
• Prepare and maintain project documentation including scopes of work, technical specs, RFQs/RFPs, contracts, and change orders
• Coordinate equipment selection, procurement, and vendor management
• Track and report project progress, risks, issues, and mitigation plans to leadership
• Manage onsite execution including contractors, equipment deliveries, installation, commissioning, start-up
• Plan and execute onsite logistics including site readiness, equipment staging, delivery scheduling, installation sequencing
• Conduct project close-out activities including punch-list, documentation handover, lessons learned
• Support knowledge sharing and standardization of best practices across plants/sites
• Maintain focus on health, safety, and environmental compliance
• Ensure projects comply with best-practice PM standards and regulatory/technical requirements

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in technical discipline; and 5 years hands‑on experience with a progressive organization working with projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Relevant experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process operations; project, maintenance, or engineering experience preferred
• Solid working knowledge of project management theory and practice, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and procurement
• Proficiency with project management software and tools, such as MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills, including scopes of work, specifications, and status reports
• Proactive HSE mindset and commitment to safety‑first execution
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to work across multiple functions and with external vendors/contractors
• Structured, organized, and detail‑oriented work approach
• Willingness to travel 30-50% depending on project and work onsite as needed during execution phases
• Fluency in English required; additional languages are a plus
• Must be eligible to work in the United States
