Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of power delivery projects across the United States. This role will manage projects involving substations, transmission lines, switchyards, utility interconnections, and other critical electrical infrastructure. Day-to-day, you'll coordinate field operations, engineering teams, subcontractors, customers, and internal stakeholders to keep projects moving safely, on schedule, and within budget.
This is a highly visible role responsible for driving projects from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout. The ideal candidate has a strong background in utility construction and project management, with the leadership and communication skills to manage complex stakeholder relationships while delivering to contractual and quality requirements.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage power delivery projects from preconstruction and planning through construction, commissioning, and closeout
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and staffing strategies
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, subcontractors, customers, and field personnel
- Monitor project costs, productivity, cash flow, change orders, risks, and overall financial performance
- Track project milestones and identify potential schedule, budget, or resource challenges
- Lead regular project meetings and communicate progress, risks, and action items to stakeholders
- Review contracts, scopes of work, drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements
- Manage subcontractor performance, documentation, invoicing, and compliance with contractual obligations
- Support procurement activities and coordinate delivery of equipment, materials, and other project resources
- Partner with field leadership to resolve construction challenges and maintain project momentum
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, customer, regulatory, and company safety requirements
- Promote a project culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, and operational excellence
- Manage project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, progress reports, and turnover packages
- Support estimating, constructability reviews, project forecasting, and proposal development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, utilities, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
- Ensure projects meet quality requirements through inspections, testing, commissioning, punch-list completion, and final closeout
- Support the development and mentorship of project engineers, coordinators, and other project team members
Required Experience/Skills
- Experience managing utility, substation, transmission, or power delivery construction projects
- Strong knowledge of project controls, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, contract administration, and construction execution
- Proven ability to manage multiple project stakeholders, subcontractors, and field teams
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and project schedules
- Experience managing project financials, including budgets, cost forecasts, change orders, and billing
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with project management, scheduling, and construction documentation software
- Ability to travel up to 66%
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience supporting substations, transmission lines, switchyards, utility interconnections, renewable energy, data centers, or industrial infrastructure projects
- Previous experience as a Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, Construction Manager, Project Engineer, or similar project leadership role
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, utility construction standards, and electrical infrastructure projects
- Experience with project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
- PMP, OSHA, or other relevant industry certifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
