Job summary

UPMC Finance is seeking a Project Manager to partner with leaders across Finance to drive high-impact initiatives and improve processes. The role combines in-person and remote work, requiring regular collaboration with stakeholders and project teams.

You will lead workstreams, develop detailed plans, and ensure delivery within budget and deadlines while aligning with system and regional goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistics, health care, management, or related business field.
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in health care insurance or health care industry preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills including Access, Excel, Microsoft Project, and other pertinent software.
  • Strong management, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent Project Management skills along with effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to plan for large initiatives/projects, managing all tasks required to meet client and business needs within budget and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Identify trends and process improvement opportunities across departments within operations.
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis
  • Develop and implement key metrics to measure and report on progress of initiatives.
  • Work with other managers to achieve efficiencies across integration of projects.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans and reporting procedures.
  • Develop cross-functional change management and implementation strategies; ensure commitment to effective implementation.
  • Assist team members in resolving project problems, escalating issues when necessary, and facilitating decision-making.
  • Assure quality of information through testing and validate results against business needs.
  • Provide concise and timely status reporting.
  • Monitor operating performance against regional and national benchmarks.
  • Assist with achieving Operations division strategic goals as well as system strategic goals.

Purpose

This position supports UPMC Finance in advancing system-wide goals, strategic priorities, and key initiatives. The project manager will partner with leaders across Finance to drive high-impact projects, support critical organizational priorities, and identify opportunities to improve processes and outcomes.

This position supports UPMC Finance in advancing system-wide goals, strategic priorities, and key initiatives. The project manager will partner with leaders across Finance to drive high-impact projects, support critical organizational priorities, and identify opportunities to improve processes and outcomes.

The position allows for a combination of in-person and remote work. It requires establishing strong working relationships across the Finance organization through regular in-person and virtual collaboration with leaders, stakeholders, and project teams.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure to Finance operations across the enterprise while independently leading workstreams and influencing cross-functional initiatives. The position provides direction, leadership, and accountability for project execution, working collaboratively with stakeholders across multiple Finance teams and operational areas.

  • Assure quality of information through business case and application level testing; validate test results to initial business needs.
