Overview
Our client is looking for a Project Manager to join their team. They provide natural gas compression equipment and services to customers globally in the Oil & Gas, Power, Transportation, and Marine sectors. With a heritage dating back to 1833, they are the OEM for Cooper-Bessemer, Ajax, Superior, Gemini, TSI, CSI, Enterprise, and Joy. Headquartered in Houston, TX, with commercial and services hubs around the world, they support more than 22,000 units in their installed base.
Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Manage project activities including budget, schedule development, and reporting in line with company work processes and customer contract requirements.
- Develop and implement Project Execution Plans, covering both development and implementation phases.
- Ensure smooth coordination with internal stakeholders including sales, engineering, sourcing, and operations.
- Collaborate on engineering and procurement strategies for legacy engine and compressor station projects.
- Prepare and present formal reports and presentations to customers and leadership.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring clear communication of execution plans, progress updates, and scope changes.
- Monitor and measure subcontractor performance against contractual terms and conditions.
- Manage costs and manpower to achieve financial objectives.
- Forecast project margins accurately and coordinate with Finance to recognize revenue and ensure timely cash collection.
- Approve and document all scope changes before implementation.
Risk, Quality & Safety
- Lead development of risk-managed inputs for project economic evaluations.
- Track and evaluate risks throughout the project life cycle.
- Partner with Quality to ensure corrective actions are implemented as needed.
- Maintain strict focus on health, safety, and environmental standards.
Operational Coordination
- Work with field teams to develop execution strategies.
- Partner with shop teams to deliver new or repaired equipment on time and to spec.
- Ensure smooth transition through commissioning, start-up, and operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of project management tools and processes.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience required.
- Degree in Engineering, Finance, or Business strongly preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years’ experience in the pipeline industry with general industry knowledge.
- Direct experience with legacy natural gas engines and compressors.
- Strong planning, prioritization, and resource allocation skills.
- Analytical problem-solving with root cause identification.
- Sound judgment with ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Proactive, self-starting approach with flexibility to adapt in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High ethical standards and professional integrity.
- Leadership skills to guide teams toward achieving project goals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software.
