  • Ability to read electrical drawings, plans, specs; experience with estimates, proposals, and change orders.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; excellent written and verbal communication.

PPS is seeking a Project Manager to join out Electrical Operation in Phoenix! The Project Manager position is responsible for managing electrical projects from initial customer contact and estimating through project completion, while also developing new business and maintaining strong customer relationships.

This role combines project management, electrical estimating, sales, customer service, and field coordination. The ideal candidate understands electrical systems and construction, can communicate effectively with customers and field personnel, and is comfortable taking ownership of projects from the sales stage through final completion.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Manage electrical projects from contract award through completion and closeout.
  • Coordinate schedules, materials, labor, subcontractors, vendors, and field activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project.
  • Review project scope, drawings, specifications, contracts, and change orders.
  • Coordinate with electricians, technicians, engineers, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project budgets, labor hours, material costs, and overall profitability.
  • Track project progress and address scheduling, material, and field issues.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop solutions before they impact the customer or schedule.
  • Conduct project kickoffs and regular project status meetings as needed.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, professionally, on schedule, and according to specifications.
  • Manage project documentation, including estimates, proposals, purchase orders, change orders, invoices, and closeout documentation.

Electrical Sales & Business Development

  • Develop new electrical and PPS business through prospecting, networking, referrals, and existing customer relationships.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with current customers and identify additional service opportunities.
  • Meet with customers to understand electrical, power protection, maintenance, and project requirements.
  • Perform site visits and gather information necessary to develop accurate project scopes and estimates.
  • Prepare proposals, estimates, scopes of work, and pricing for electrical projects.
  • Present proposals to customers and negotiate project terms within established company guidelines.
  • Follow up on proposals and maintain an active sales pipeline.
  • Identify opportunities for additional electrical services, upgrades, maintenance, repairs, and equipment replacement.
  • Work closely with the operations and service teams to ensure sold work can be executed successfully.
  • Maintain accurate sales and project information in the company’s CRM or project management system.
  • Develop long-term customer relationships rather than focusing solely on individual transactions.

Financial & Operational Responsibilities

  • Maintain project profitability and monitor job costs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review labor and material costs against estimates.
  • Approve or coordinate purchasing of project materials and equipment.
  • Prepare and manage change orders when project scope changes.
  • Assist with accounts receivable follow-up and ensure projects are properly invoiced.
  • Participate in forecasting and sales/project pipeline reviews.
  • Provide management with updates regarding project status, revenue, margins, and potential risks.

Customer Service

  • Maintain professional and responsive communication with customers.
  • Resolve customer concerns and project issues promptly.
  • Set clear expectations regarding schedules, scope, pricing, and deliverables.
  • Conduct project completion reviews and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities for repeat business and additional services.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in electrical construction, electrical service, power systems, facilities, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of project management, estimating, sales, or account management experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, equipment, and construction practices.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Experience preparing estimates, proposals, scopes of work, and change orders.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management/CRM software.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer and project locations as needed.
