Summary

The project manager leads the project team in conjunction with operations to hold budgets at a 10% or greater margin and implement strategies to achieve or surpass the goals with zero safety incidents. The project manager is also responsible for monthly revenue projections, the job start‑up process, creating accurate budgets, documenting project issues, accurately projecting cost to complete, monitoring the overall performance of projects, and performing postmortems for each project under their control.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the pre‑construction team at the start of a project to verify proposals, estimates, and quotes.
  • Perform all tasks necessary to ensure a smooth and appropriate job start‑up, including contract review, submittals, insurance paperwork, AIA documents, job startup sheets, material ordering, and scheduling.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to the project manager, field team, & clients.
  • Work with the division manager to manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company’s interest and simultaneously maintain a good relationship with the customer.
  • Manage, track, and communicate the project’s financials to operations, project managers, and the division manager on a daily and weekly basis, as well as report a deep dive of financials to corporate monthly.
  • Collaborate with project teams to establish monthly revenue projections.
  • Review and approve project invoices efficiently and be completed before monthly closing.
  • Understand and know what materials and labor costs are for performing our scope of work.
  • Track and oversee productivity and material costs daily.
  • Represent the company in project meetings and strategize to keep division goals and interests on track.
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain communications and relationships with general contractors and other contacts to facilitate project activities and schedules.
  • Manage customer relationships through the good, bad, and ugly.
  • Identify project scope and plan changes. Coordinate with general contractors and field operations to implement changes and associated costs.
  • Lead the team and division to goals while developing and building team relationships.
  • Manage and oversee tasks that are assigned to the assistant project manager. Ensure tasks are completed correctly and timely. The project manager is responsible for the outcome of work produced by the assistant project manager.
  • Manage the quality control of the products we are providing to customers from field to office. Make sure customer expectations are being met.
  • Communicate and verify the operations team and crew have what they need to complete tasks when mobilizing to avoid special or secondary trips.
  • Confer with supervisors and foremen to discuss matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Work to avoid and/or diffuse problems in the office and on the job site and take immediate corrective action when situations arise.
  • Investigate any potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures, with guidance from support divisions.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or business management or 10 years of experience in the construction industry, along with five years in a leadership capacity.
  • Working knowledge of various construction disciplines and safety regulations and how to apply them.
  • Understanding of cost management processes, planning, and scheduling.
  • Practical written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment/Physical Demand

This position works in an office environment; occasionally traveling to the field to supervise projects as required. This position requires long periods of sitting.

Position type and expected hours of work

This is a full‑time, office/field hybrid position. Typical hours will range from 45-50 hours per week and are subject to change. This role requires the ability to work non‑typical days and irregular hours based on construction schedules. Due to the critical nature of the role, accepting phone calls even during non‑typical workdays and hours is also necessary.

Travel

Typical travel should be expected visiting jobs in Austin, San Antonio, and Waco. Some occasional travel outside of the state may occur on a limited basis.
