Job summary

Stapp Construction is seeking a results-driven Project Manager to oversee construction projects from initiation through completion. The role focuses on planning, coordination, and execution to deliver on time, within budget, and to high standards of quality and safety.

The ideal candidate will bring proven civil construction experience and strong leadership, with excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of construction operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven organizational, managerial and time-management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all phases of assigned projects from initiation through closeout.
  • Oversee contracts and subcontract review; coordinate with Estimating and Project teams.
  • Manage change orders, review invoices, and track budgets vs forecasts.
  • Develop weekly look-ahead schedules and monthly WIP/forecast reports.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance and maintain site safety practices.

Job description

Stapp Construction is seeking a results-driven Project Manager to oversee construction projects from beginning through completion. This individual will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of assigned projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive leader with strong communication skills and a solid understanding of construction operations.

Proven civil construction experience is required. Candidates with demonstrated, verifiable experience in civil construction qualify for an annual salary of $150,000-175,000, based on experience and qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage all phases of assigned projects, from initiation through closeout
  • Administer construction contracts and oversee the subcontract review process
  • Collaborate with the Estimating and Project teams on subcontractor and supplier selection and buyout
  • Manage change orders and review invoices, exercising sound judgment in financial decisions
  • Coordinate and lead subcontractor meetings and facilitate efficient project progress meetings
  • Process and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) in a timely manner
  • Prepare, submit, and approve monthly billing in accordance with contract terms
  • Develop and maintain weekly look-ahead schedules to keep projects on track
  • Prepare monthly project forecasts, work-in-progress (WIP) reports, and accrual reports
  • Proactively identify project risks and issues, resolving them in a timely and effective manner
  • Respond to unforeseen field conditions with sound, practical solutions
  • Maintain clear, professional, and consistent communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle
  • Support superintendents in monitoring materials, equipment, and site logistics
  • Identify and implement value engineering opportunities where appropriate
  • Monitor jobsite safety practices and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies
  • Track project budgets and costs against forecasts, identifying variances promptly
  • Utilize project management software to maintain accurate documentation, scheduling, and reporting
  • Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients
  • Oversee project closeout, including punch lists, final inspections, and documentation turnover
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior project staff and coordinators as needed
Qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction means, methods, and industry procedures
  • Proven organizational, managerial, and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Sound critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Computer Ease, Primavera P6, or B2W is a plus but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered
