Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring projects run smoothly and efficiently from initiation to closure. The Project Manager is the glue between the Customer, vendors and internal team ensuring communication is free flowing and any blockers get addressed in a timely manner to ensure project success. The Project Manager will own the project commercials and thus its profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with internal departments to understand the full scope of the project and ensure alignment
  • Schedule internal project kickoff with Sales, design, department managers and Resource Manager
  • Attend kickoff meeting and meet the client project team members to be the clients point of contact for all project needs
  • Be the central point of communication between Clients, Sales, Resource Manager, Department Managers and Estimator/Designer to keep their projects running efficiently
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects at the same time but within their own limits as to not overextend themselves
  • Work seamlessly with the internal Resource Manager throughout the project lifecycle
  • Work with Sales and Estimators to understand the SOW (statement of work) for the project
  • Create project plans, coordinating steps for all key milestones including all third-party vendors, suppliers, parts, resources, etc.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project documentation, including plans, reports, budgets, and schedules
  • Lead and motivate project teams through clear communication and alignment of objectives
  • Manage project changes or issues that need to be addressed to initiate change orders, prevent scope creep, achieve project deadlines, and protect project profitability
  • Monitor project progress including hours and budgeting and report updates to management on a weekly basis
  • Coordinates with sales team for job updates/delays
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment to optimize team performance
  • Execute proper project close procedures
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement
  • Participate in comprehensive training programs to continue improving skills and knowledge needed to excel in this position and stay updated with industry best practices
  • Look for opportunities to make your role and function within GBS better through technology, efficiencies and innovation
Service Ticket Responsibilities:
  • Assist and monitor tickets on the service board pertaining to active projects in which you are assigned
Quality Assurance:
  • Coordinate with Resource Manager for efficient resource allocation
  • Double check the correct parts were ordered
  • Receive daily updates from technicians or managers for job progress
  • Contact customers every 30 days to ensure quality
  • Review quality assurance survey (ensures project progress, employee quality, and customer feedback).
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • CAPM or PMP Certification preferred
  • Proven experience managing projects in a related industry
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with various teams, stakeholders, and clients
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in project management and productivity tools and software
  • Problem-solving abilities to address scheduling conflicts and resources constraints effectively
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and dynamic project environments
  • Analytical mindset to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvements
Experience and Education:

A bachelor's degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee will work in an indoor office environment with controlled temperature and lighting. The employee will be regularly required to conduct customer site walks in various environments including office settings, outdoor locations, and manufacturing or construction sites. This position will sometimes require local, regional, or occasional national business travel to visit project and client worksite locations. Travel requirements are subject to change based on business needs. The employee may be exposed to varying weather conditions when working outdoors, to loud noises, moving mechanical parts, or other hazards commonly found in manufacturing or construction environments. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Occasional lifting of materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.
