Job summary

Job Description | Project ENGAGE is an academic-community partnership creating new tools to promote the responsible inclusion of adults with intellectual disability in health research. The Project Manager will work directly under the principal investigators (PIs) at Syracuse and Columbia Universities to manage and carry out all aspects, including the day-to-day operations, of a 3-year PCORI-funded, stakeholder-engaged, mixed methods study on improving consent in patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research with adults with intellectual disability.

Education and Experience | Master’s Degree in Public Health, Bioethics, Psychology or related field 3-5 years’ plus experience in social/behavioral research

Responsibilities

  • Data collection – Collect and report on data collection related to the inclusion of adults with intellectual disability in health research; including the implementation of research study protocols involving recruitment of study participants, data collection, and analysis. Deliver on-going written updates and summaries to the principal investigators at Syracuse University and Columbia University based on the research aims described in the funded PCORI (Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute) award and as directed by the principal investigators
  • Develop Research Study Materials – Assist with the development of various components and materials for the research study. This includes managing the daily activities of the project so that the project milestones are achieved on time. Preparing initial drafts of and making revisions to study materials (e.g., data collection protocols and instruments, recruitment materials, IRB review materials) for review by the principal investigators, consultants, and Steering Committee members. Coordinate meetings with principal investigators, consultants, and Steering Committee members.
  • Data Analysis – Prepare data and write data reports for each research aim for ongoing monitoring by the principal investigators. Follow best practices and approved research protocols for preparing, cleaning, and analyzing data. Prepare data for the statistician as directed by the principal investigators. Prepare data summaries for review by the Steering Committee. Contribute to dissemination products and reports to funder. Initial preparation of financial transactions related to payments for consultants, Steering Committee members, and study participant payments.
