Job summary

Genuine Search Group in Milwaukee seeks an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead custom automation projects from concept through installation and customer acceptance. The role requires a strong mechanical engineering background and hands-on experience with automated equipment.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage schedules and budgets, liaise with customers, and drive continuous improvement in project execution to meet quality and delivery targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of project management or project execution experience in custom automation, special machinery, or industrial equipment.
  • Strong background in automated machinery and manufacturing systems.
  • Experience managing projects involving mechanical, electrical, controls, and integration disciplines.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of machine design, fabrication, assembly, and commissioning processes.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project scheduling tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage custom automation projects from kickoff through final commissioning and customer sign-off.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate internal engineering, manufacturing, assembly, controls, purchasing, and field service teams.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, milestones, and resource plans.
  • Conduct project review meetings and provide regular status updates to leadership and customers.
  • Review engineering designs and ensure technical requirements are met.
  • Manage project scope, change orders, risk mitigation, and issue resolution.
  • Support mechanical design reviews and collaborate with engineering teams on manufacturability and system performance.
  • Coordinate machine build activities, FAT/SAT activities, installation, and startup support.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to customer quality expectations
  • Maintain documentation including schedules, meeting notes, action items, and project reports
  • Drive continuous improvement in project execution processes and communication.

Engineering Project Manager – Custom Automation
Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead the execution of custom automation and automated machinery projects from concept through installation and customer acceptance. This role requires a strong mechanical engineering background, hands-on experience with automated equipment, and proven success managing complex technical projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and capable of coordinating cross-functional teams while maintaining project schedules, budgets, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to travel for customer meetings, installations, and project support as needed
