Job summary

Electric Power Engineers, LLC is seeking a Project Manager to lead engineering projects in the grid modernization space. You will guide execution, manage teams, and ensure on-time delivery while controlling budgets and risks.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in electric utilities or industrial construction, strong communication, and experience with AI/automation tools to enhance quality and productivity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in engineering or related field from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 2 years electric utility and/or industrial construction experience.
  • Proven ability to develop business and establish client relationships.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and lead proposal efforts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with project management software, scheduling, and cost control.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the project team, establishes the project execution approach and oversees execution for resources to meet goals.
  • Coaches and provides performance feedback for project staff.
  • Leads project reviews and organizational project management assessments.
  • Contributes to policy improvement and internal/external expert groups.
  • Leads project recovery efforts and manages budget, sales and operations planning.
  • Monitors project progress, controls costs and cash flow, and manages risks.
  • Ensures formal project close-out and contract acceptance by the customer.
  • Maintains stakeholder relations and ensures health, safety and environment policies.

Responsibilities

Project leadership
  • Leads the project team, establishes the project execution approach and oversees project hand-over, execution planning, and monitoring and control activities for both internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals.
  • Coaches and provides performance feedback for project staff.
Instructions and guidelines
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of policies and work instructions by learned. Leads project reviews for other large projects and Organizational Project Management (OPM) reviews/assessments and conducts competency assessments for the project execution teams.
  • Actively seeks both internal improvement opportunities and external project management practices with relevance to EPE and influences the organization to continuously improve project execution.
  • Actively participates in and contributes to internal and external expert groups, e.g. project management councils and other forums.
Project Recovery
  • Leads project recovery efforts, i.e. the rapid assessment of troubled projects and their turnaround.
Budget, sales and operations planning.
  • Participates in the budgeting process, jointly with Management.
  • Participates in Sales and Operations Planning with Management and Sales/Business Development.
  • Takes actions to close potential gaps in project execution capacity.
Project execution and control
  • Ensures projects follow execution best practices and EPE policies.
  • Effectively monitors and controls project progress and efficient resource utilization.
  • Monitors and controls project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses and cash flow, tracking the achievement of financial target continuously.
  • Identifies, qualifies, quantifies and manages project risks, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued. Captures, analyzes and shares lessons learned throughout the project.
  • Ensures that projects are formally closed out, as contractually agreed. Drives the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer.
Planning and scheduling

Ensures that all planning activities (including scope and financial plans, schedules and risk management plans) are performed properly by the assigned project team(s).

Contract, claims and procurement management.

Ensures that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with EPE policies and contractual agreements.

Ensures that required procurement activities for services, materials and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers are performed by the assigned resources.

Stakeholder relations
  • Acts as key contact for the customer and escalation point for project issues.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders.
Health, safety and environment (HSE)
  • Ensures the project follows and complies with company health, safety, andenvironmental policies.
People leadership and development
  • Develops project execution staff through formal and informal mentoring and coaching.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 2 (2) yearsof electric utility and/or industrial construction experience
  • Proven ability to develop business and establish relationships with clients.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and lead proposal / pursuit efforts. Proven ability to develop business and establish relationships with clients.
  • Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
  • Strong experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software.
  • Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Previous consulting experience preferred but not required.
