Job summary

EnergeiaWorks is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead site activities, coordinating engineers, superintendents, and subcontractors to deliver projects on time and within budget.

You will oversee cost reporting, change orders, risk management, and QA/QC plans while nurturing key relationships with owners and suppliers. Traveling may be required in Florida and beyond.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture.
  • 5–8 years of field construction management experience.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office and scheduling software.
  • Thorough understanding of project management control systems.
  • Active Florida General Contractor, Electrical Contractor (EC) or Certified Solar Contractor license.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and take responsibility for subcontracted and self-performed work.
  • Execute work and track results, adjusting forecasts to reflect actual production.
  • Oversee preparation of project billings and liaise with Finance to optimize cash flow.
  • Prioritize collection of aged receivables and review status in Owner meetings.
  • Present and negotiate change orders with the Owner.
  • Negotiate cost-effective subcontract and material purchases.
  • Develop and maintain the master project schedule to keep on track.
  • Maintain timely cost reporting to management.
  • Manage, train, and supervise the project team.
  • Review contracts and documentation of all claims and changes.
  • Manage project risk with mitigation plans to avoid claims.
  • Maintain QA/QC plans with the QA/QC Manager.
  • Complete all job close-out procedures and turnover to O&M team.
  • Manage warranty claims and repairs.
  • Develop relationships with Owner, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with material suppliers for timely deliveries.
  • Organize regular Owner meetings and partner meetings.
  • Assist in Health and Safety plan development and implementation.

Job description

In partnership with the Senior Management Team, Construction Manager, Project Engineers and Superintendents, plan, execute, and take responsibility for subcontracted and self‑performed work.

  • Execute work and track results, adjusting and refining forecasts to reflect actual production.
  • Oversee preparation of project billings and present to Construction Manager / Senior Management. Liaise with Finance & Accounting to maximize and optimize cash flow to ensure project liquidity.
  • Prioritize the collection of aged receivables and review their status regularly in Owner meetings and communication.
  • Present and negotiate change orders with the Owner for timely resolution.
  • Negotiate cost‑effective subcontract and material purchases.
  • Set up and implement job procedures and techniques within teams and departments to ensure timely engineering package reviews and approvals, procurement, material delivery, and receiving procedures.
  • Develop, maintain and update the master project schedule, keeping the project on schedule.
  • Maintain timely and accurate cost reporting to management.
  • Manage, train, and supervise the project team.
  • Review contract and documentation of all accident claims, project delays, and change orders.
  • Effectively manage project risk; evaluate probability and severity of risk events as they are identified / anticipated and prepare mitigation plans with the project team and operations management, avoiding or mitigating claims and conflict.
  • Maintain quality control (integrity and excellence of completed project), including development and implementation with the QA/QC Manager of site‑specific quality management plans and procedures.
  • Complete all job close‑out procedures, ensuring a 100% accepted, documented, and commissioned project, turning the project over to the internal O&M Team.
  • Manage warranty claims and repairs necessary.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with the Owner, engineering consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Extensive coordination with material suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and to develop solutions to logistical and supply‑chain challenges.
  • As necessary for self‑performed work, negotiate and coordinate with local contract labor providers to ensure sufficient workforce resources at the most competitive commercial terms.
  • Organize and lead regular meetings with the Owner, and key project partners.
  • Assist Construction Manager and project team in creation and implementation of Health and Safety plans.
Requirements
  • Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5‑8 years of field construction management experience.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office suite, as well as other construction scheduling software.
  • Thorough understanding of all project management control systems (scheduling, cost control, procurement and estimating).
  • Strong understanding of utility‑scale PV plant construction means, methods, sequencing, and technique.
  • Understanding of utility & ISO interconnection sequence & duration.
  • Able to travel extensively.
  • Understanding of and adherence to safety and quality procedures and practice.
  • Delivery of projects within expected schedule and budget parameters.
  • Timely resolution of disputed project claims or impact.
  • Active Florida General Contractor, Electrical Contractor (EC) or Certified Solar Contractor (CVC) License.
  • Negotiation and implementation of labor agreements with agencies and union.
