The Project Manager must understand the unique requirements of each department, identify dependencies between workstreams, and coordinate the people, equipment, materials, and processes needed to transition successfully into the new facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the relocation plan: Establish the overall project scope, detailed departmental move schedules, milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, and accountability for completing each phase of the transition.
  • Assess departmental requirements: Work with laboratory, warehouse, waste management, office, facilities, IT, quality, and safety leaders to document inventories, workflows, equipment needs, storage conditions, and operational requirements before the move.
  • Own the relocation budget: Develop cost estimates, obtain vendor proposals, track purchase orders and expenditures, manage contingency allowances, and communicate budget changes and forecasts to leadership
  • Organize office and employee relocation: Coordinate furniture, workstations, IT systems, telecommunications, records, access controls, and employee communications to support a smooth transition.
  • Confirm facility and operational readiness: Coordinate with the facilities and construction teams on handover dates, utility availability, and space readiness without managing construction. Track required change controls, procedures, training, and departmental approvals before operations resume.
  • Manage vendors, risks, and communications: Oversee relocation vendors and equipment service providers; lead cross-functional meetings; maintain action, risk, and decision logs; and provide clear updates on schedule, costs, issues, and mitigation plans.
  • Lead move execution and closeout: Manage phased moves, downtime windows, contingency arrangements, and post-move issue resolution. Obtain departmental acceptance and coordinate remaining equipment removal, cleaning, and any required safety-clearance activities at the former facility.

  • Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, equipment relocation, controlled storage, warehousing, and the practical requirements for shutting down and restarting operations.
  • Experience working with cross functional stakeholders to incorporate their requirements into an executable project plan.
  • Proven ability to identify risks, resolve competing priorities, hold stakeholders accountable, and communicate effectively with both technical teams and senior leadership.
  • Proficiency with project scheduling, budget management, and project reporting tools.
