Job summary

Allied Steel Buildings seeks a Project Manager to own assigned projects from turnover through closeout, ensuring safety, profitability, and customer satisfaction. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage budgets and schedules, and maintain strong client relationships, while adhering to established processes and driving continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes collaboration, clear communication, and proactive issue resolution within a fast-paced, steel/ PEMB environment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of project management experience in construction, steel, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Experience with Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) systems preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in architecture, engineering, construction management, business, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and understand construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
  • Working knowledge of project financial management, including budgets, cash flow, job costing, margins, invoicing, and change management.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and effectively manage internal and external resources.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and project requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with CRM and project management/scheduling software.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, or similar document management tools.
  • Familiarity with BIM, modeling, or visualization software such as SketchUp, BIMsight, or similar programs is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment and adapt to varying project types and customer requirements.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive, accountable, and solution-focused approach.
  • PMP certification or other relevant professional certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned projects from turnover through final closeout, taking ownership of execution, communication, schedule, budget, and customer experience.
  • Review project documents, drawings, specifications, contracts, scope, and customer requirements to establish objectives and identify risks.
  • Verify precontract and turnover activities to ensure scope and terms are understood.
  • Develop and maintain action plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Organize and facilitate internal and external project teams to meet objectives.
  • Monitor progress and address issues affecting schedule, cost, quality, or customer expectations.
  • Follow and enforce project management processes to promote consistency and success.
  • Serve as primary contact for clients and maintain ongoing communication throughout the lifecycle.
  • Manage project meetings, agendas, participants, action items, and follow-up.
  • Maintain communication regarding drawings, submittals, schedules, fabrication, delivery, field requirements, changes and expectations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Monitor budgets, milestones, change orders, and overall performance; identify margins or cost exposure.
  • Coordinate with Finance and Leadership for accurate reporting and invoicing.
  • Manage changes: identify, document, price, negotiate, approve, execute.
  • Assist with final reconciliation and closeout to meet financial and contractual requirements.
  • Establish production requirements and coordinate procurement, fabrication, and delivery to meet milestones.
  • Coordinate material procurement and delivery schedules; resolve logistics issues.
  • Identify risks and develop solutions to minimize impact on schedule, cost, quality, and relationships.
  • Escalate significant issues when resolution exceeds authority.
  • Maintain project documentation and records to support decisions and closeout.
  • Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to resolve issues and maintain momentum.
  • Support a collaborative, accountable project team environment.
  • Share knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices to improve performance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and systems.
  • Represent Allied professionally with clients, vendors, partners, and internal teams.

The Project Manager is expected to take ownership of assigned projects, maintain visibility into project performance, communicate proactively, and drive issues toward resolution. Responsibilities:
Project Execution
  • Manage assigned projects from project turnover through final closeout, taking ownership of project execution, communication, schedule, budget, and customer experience.
  • Review and understand project documents, drawings, specifications, contracts, scope, and customer requirements to establish clear project objectives and identify potential risks, conflicts, and gaps.
  • Verify precontract and turnover activities to ensure project scope, order requirements, commercial terms, and expectations are clearly understood.
  • Develop and maintain project action plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables to support successful project execution.
  • Organize, coordinate, and facilitate internal and external project teams to meet project objectives.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify and address issues that may impact schedule, cost, quality, or customer expectations.
  • Follow and enforce established project management processes, procedures, and systems to promote consistency and project success.
Project Coordination & Communication
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects and maintain consistent communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage project meetings, including preparation of agendas, coordination of participants, documentation of action items, and follow-up on commitments.
  • Maintain clear communication regarding drawings, submittals, schedules, fabrication, delivery, field requirements, changes, and project expectations.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, vendors, suppliers, and internal team members.
  • Monitor project budgets, payment milestones, change orders, and overall project performance.
  • Review project financial performance regularly and identify potential margin erosion, cost exposure, or opportunities to improve project profitability.
  • Coordinate with Finance Representatives and Leadership to maintain accurate financial reporting and timely invoicing.
  • Manage project changes, including identification, documentation, pricing, negotiation, approval, and execution.
  • Assist with final project reconciliation and closeout to ensure financial and contractual requirements are completed.
Procurement, Fabrication & Delivery
  • Establish and maintain production requirements in accordance with project schedules.
  • Coordinate material procurement, production requirements, and delivery schedules to support project milestones.
  • Coordinate project delivery requirements and work with internal and external resources to resolve logistics issues.
  • Proactively identify project risks and develop solutions to minimize impacts to schedule, cost, quality, and customer relationships.
  • Escalate significant project issues to the appropriate leadership when resolution exceeds assigned authority or requires broader organizational support.
  • Maintain appropriate project documentation and records to support project decisions, changes, commitments, and closeout.
  • Work collaboratively with project leadership and cross‑functional teams to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
Team & Organizational Contribution

  • Share project knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices to improve overall team performance.
