Project Manager – Marine Systems / Shipboard Technology

Location: Miramar, FL, with shipboard travel

Employment Type: Contract

Anticipated Start: Late October 2026, subject to approval

Project Duration: Three-year initiative; initial contract term to be confirmed

Position Overview

A global organization is seeking a Project Manager to support the replacement of marine systems used in shipboard emergency operations centers. This initiative includes both software and hardware and requires close coordination across shipboard personnel, product teams, technical resources, and vendors. The Project Manager will own day‑to‑day project execution, including planning, scheduling, financial tracking, resource coordination, and deployment readiness. This person must be comfortable managing technology implementations in an active shipboard environment, where logistics, limited deployment windows, and operational continuity are critical.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, and implementation timelines.
  • Coordinate software and hardware replacement activities with product owners, engineers, vendors, and shipboard teams.
  • Track budgets, resource needs, risks, dependencies, and issues; elevate concerns and drive resolution.
  • Plan deployments around ship schedules, equipment availability, and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate equipment delivery, installation readiness, testing, cutover, and transition to support.
  • Communicate project status and decisions clearly to program management and business stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with shipboard leadership and coordinate work to minimize disruption to operations and the guest experience.
  • Maintain project documentation, change records, and implementation procedures.
  • Travel aboard ships as needed to support planning and delivery.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex technology projects involving software implementations, hardware deployments, or infrastructure changes.
  • Strong command of project planning, budget tracking, risk management, and resource coordination.
  • Experience coordinating technical teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple dependencies and deliver within tightly controlled implementation windows.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Practical, hands-on approach, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and remain aboard ships for extended assignments.
Preferred Experience
  • Maritime or shipboard technology experience within cruise lines, commercial shipping, freight operations, or the military.
  • Familiarity with shipboard operations, marine systems, or emergency operations technology.
  • Experience delivering projects across multiple vessels or distributed operational locations.
  • Experience coordinating implementations in environments that operate around the clock.

Candidates with strong technology project management experience may be considered without direct maritime experience. Shipboard experience is highly valued because it reduces the learning curve around vessel operations and deployment logistics.

Travel and Working Expectations

Travel will depend on the deployment schedule and may involve several consecutive weeks aboard a ship, potentially a month at a time. Implementation periods may require extended hours and weekend work. Specific travel expectations and scheduling will be confirmed during the interview process.
