Job summary

Openwork is seeking an experienced Industrial Project Manager to lead projects from award to closeout in the Houston area, including chemical plant and industrial sectors. You will oversee planning, field execution, safety, quality, scheduling, and financial performance, while ensuring customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has hands-on project-management experience, with ability to review contracts and drawings, coordinate site teams, and drive profitability while maintaining compliance

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of project-management experience in industrial, specialty contracting, industrial construction, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience managing project budgets, job costs, labor productivity, schedules, and gross margins.
  • Ability to read and interpret coating specifications, contracts, estimates, drawings, and technical documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel to industrial job sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage industrial projects from award through final completion and closeout.
  • Review contracts, estimates, specifications, drawings, schedules, and project requirements.
  • Develop execution plans, project schedules, staffing plans, and equipment and material requirements.
  • Coordinate project mobilization, field operations, and demobilization.
  • Monitor labor productivity, job costs, schedules, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and project profitability.
  • Prepare accurate project forecasts and cost-to-complete projections.
  • Identify potential risks, cost overruns, and scheduling concerns, and implement corrective action.
  • Manage change orders and ensure additional work is documented, approved, priced, and billed.
  • Coordinate closely with superintendents, foremen, safety personnel, estimators, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Visit job sites regularly to monitor safety, quality, productivity, and customer expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, customer requirements, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Verify that surface preparation and coating application meet customer specifications, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with customer representatives, inspectors, and quality-control personnel.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Identify opportunities for additional work, repeat business, and long-term customer growth.

Position Overview
