Job summary

Akkodis in Columbus, OH seeks a Project Manager with 5+ years of experience in engineering, design, and project management within utility/infrastructure settings. You will lead capital projects, coordinate diverse teams, manage budgets, and communicate status to leadership.

The right candidate has a background in electric utilities or related infrastructure and can read technical drawings. This role offers competitive W2 compensation and potential negotiability based on experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience with progression from engineering/design into project management.
• Experience managing large capital projects, including scope, schedule, budget, cost forecasting, risk, contractors, and execution.
• Background in electric utilities, T&D, electric generation, natural gas, pipelines, or similar infrastructure.
• Engineers who moved into PM are welcome.
• Experience coordinating engineering teams, contractors, clients, inspectors, and stakeholders.
• Comfortable with drawings, RFIs, project documentation, permitting, and construction execution.
• Strong client-facing communication and ability to report status, budgets, schedules and risks to leadership.
• Engineering degree preferred (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Petroleum, or related).

Responsibilities

• Manage large capital projects with clear scope, schedule, budget and risk controls.
• Coordinate engineering teams, contractors, clients, inspectors and other stakeholders.
• Communicate project status, budgets and risks to senior leadership.
• Oversee permitting processes and construction execution as required.

Rate / Salary Range: $40/hour - $65/hour on W2; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Project Manager with 5+ years of experience in engineering, design, and/or project management, ideally within the utility, energy, or infrastructure space.

Core Responsibilities / Qualification

• 5+ years of professional experience with progression from engineering/design into project management or direct capital project management experience
• Experience managing large capital projects, including responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, cost forecasting, risk, contractors, and project execution
• Strong preference for candidates with backgrounds in electric utilities, T&D (Transmission & Distribution), electric generation, natural gas, pipelines, or other utility infrastructure
• Candidates with an engineering/design background who have moved into project management are especially attractive
• Experience coordinating engineering teams, construction contractors, clients, inspectors, and other stakeholders
• Comfortable working with technical drawings, engineering/design deliverables, RFIs, project documentation, permitting, and construction execution
• Strong client-facing communication and ability to communicate project status, budgets, schedules, and risks to leadership
• Engineering degree preferred, particularly Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Petroleum, or related disciplines
