Job Description: Project Manager - Codes, Standards, and Zoning (Remote, Upstate NY)

Tech Valley Talent (TVT) is seeking a Project Manager for a long-term, mostly remote role focused on codes, standards, and zoning in the energy sector. This position aims to contribute to reducing the carbon footprint and involves leading and implementing new programs related to these areas.

Duration: 36 months

Location: Based in Albany, NY, with remote work; some travel (10%) within upstate NY required. Candidates should be local to Albany.

Note: No third-party applications; W2 only.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of experience and insight into codes, local government processes, regulatory proceedings, and environmental and economic impacts.
• Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree, PMP, Six Sigma, or Lean certifications preferred.
• Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences, including stakeholders and officials.
• Proven track record in developing and implementing innovative strategies, with experience interacting with regulatory bodies and local governments.
• Mission-driven, motivated by environmental challenges.
• Strong strategic and tactical project management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, resourcefulness, adaptability, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Capacity to manage multiple activities efficiently with attention to detail and strong judgment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support programs aimed at code advancement, compliance, and operational efficiency.
• Continuously optimize strategies based on data, insights, and evaluation.
• Manage consultant and municipal contracts effectively, ensuring successful outcomes within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including code officials, elected officials, and advocates.
• Track and document program progress against goals.
• Collaborate with NYS Department of State and other agencies on policy and regulatory issues.
• Represent the client in partnerships with private and public organizations.
• Develop expertise in codes and zoning to support other programs.
• Champion process improvements and contribute to team outcomes.
