Job summary

The University of New Mexico's Project ECHO is seeking a Project Manager to lead complex, federally funded grant projects and coordinate initiatives across the portfolio. You will plan, monitor, and report on deliverables, timelines, and budgets, and collaborate with national partners and internal teams.

You will facilitate planning sessions, manage cross-functional resources, and ensure compliance with funder requirements while growing a national program footprint from Albuquerque, NM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Experience with federally funded grants preferred.

• Knowledge of HIV care, public health, healthcare education, or workforce development programs.

Position Summary

The University of New Mexico's Project ECHO has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our New Mexico and National Programs Team! This position will plan and manage projects for the team, with a primary focus on large, complex, federally funded grant projects (e.g., an HRSA-funded grant) and support for other initiatives across the portfolio.

As a Project Manager, you will:

• Lead day-to-day planning and execution for an assigned multi-year, federally funded grant project of significant scale and complexity- tracking deliverables, timelines, and budget compliance, and keeping leadership and stakeholders updated on progress.
• Facilitate planning sessions and team meetings, set clear scope and timelines, and coordinate resource needs with program leadership.
• Monitor project milestones, risks and maintain a reporting cadence that meets funder and organizational requirements.
• Support stakeholder engagement - documenting partner activity in our CRM system and helping coordinate communication with internal teams and external partners.
• Review early-stage project proposals for clarity, feasibility, and alignment with organizational goals, and recommend adjustments to scope, timeline, or resources.
• Manage smaller projects independently from planning through implementation, in collaboration with the grants team.
• Help set up and launch new initiatives, ensuring a smooth handoff once they're established.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans alongside senior leadership.
• Identify root causes of delays or resource gaps, recommend corrective actions, and adjust plans in response to shifting priorities or emerging risks.
• Document lessons learned and apply them to future projects.
• Serve as a point of contact for the team, building relationships with regional and national partner organizations and representing the team's work in meetings and workgroups as needed.
• May provide guidance or supervision to project staff or coordinators, depending on project needs and team structure.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on federally funded grants, particularly HRSA-funded programs.
• Experience coordinating complex multi-state or national projects.
• Experience with Smartsheet, Salesforce, and project reporting tools.
• Knowledge of HIV care, public health, healthcare education, or workforce development programs.
