Job summary

Datacenter People is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commissioning-focused data centre projects in the United States. The role covers planning through to completion and requires ownership of schedules, budgets and client-facing activities.

You will manage commissioning levels 1–5, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and drive successful project delivery across major data centre and mission-critical environments.

Job description

We are currently looking for an experienced Project Manager to join a specialist team delivering commissioning services across major data centre and mission-critical projects in the US.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager with experience in data centres, commissioning, construction, MEP, or other mission-critical environments who is looking to take ownership of projects from planning through to completion.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will take a lead role in managing projects through Commissioning Levels 1–5, with responsibility for the client relationship, project team, programme, commercial performance, and successful delivery.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading and managing projects from initiation through to final close-out.
• Developing and managing overall project milestone schedules.
• Managing project budgets, forecasting, billing, costs, and financial performance.
• Reviewing scope of work, estimates, schedules of values and potential change orders.
• Leading and coordinating commissioning teams, client representatives, vendors and contractors.
• Maintaining strong communication with clients, construction teams, design teams and other stakeholders.
• Managing document control and ensuring project documentation is completed accurately.
• Overseeing project close-out, including commissioning reports, as-built documentation, O&M manuals and lessons learned.
• Supporting new project opportunities and contributing to proposals and client presentations.
• Leading and supervising project resources, including technical field staff.

About You

• Experience in project management within data centres, mission-critical, construction, commissioning, MEP or a related environment.
• Strong understanding of project budgets, schedules, contracts and scope of work.
• The ability to manage multiple stakeholders and project resources simultaneously.
• Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent planning, organisation and time-management abilities.
• A good understanding of technical concepts relevant to commissioning and MEP systems.
• Familiarity with energy transfer systems including electrical, mechanical, hydronic and air systems.
• The ability to build effective relationships with clients, contractors, vendors and internal teams.
• A willingness and ability to travel by car and air, including periods of up to two consecutive weeks.
