Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Denver, CO is seeking an Engineering Intern to apply standard engineering techniques, assist lead engineers, and contribute to project tasks across market segments. The internship focuses on construction-related design, field operations, and support activities, with on-site, full-time work.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field from an accredited program required.
  • Or, currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education program in a field related to the work done in the department required.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Description

Our Engineering Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. This includes standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other duties as assigned. Specific assignments and project work vary depending on the market segments. Please see below for information on each market:

Construction

The Construction group is responsible for construction phase services in the design-build process and support for safety and health, estimating, pre-construction, field operations, quality and project management. This includes multiple project execution approaches, including self-perform, multi-subcontractor, construction only and program management.

Qualifications
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field from an accredited program required.
  • Or, currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education program in a field related to the work done in the department required.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.

Compensation

$19.50-37.00 Hourly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The final agreed upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location.
