About This Position

The Project Management Assistant position provides professional-level support and assistance in the management and implementation of economic development programs and initiatives including business retention and expansion, business attraction, and redevelopment and real estate development projects.

The Project Management Assistant position provides professional-level support and assistance in the management and implementation of economic development programs and initiatives including business retention and expansion, business attraction, and redevelopment and real estate development projects.

Currently, there is one vacancy for a Project Management Assistant in the Community and Economic Development Department's Community Development Division, with a focus on the downtown redevelopment projects, property management, and other strategic revitalization initiatives. This position supports the Community Development Division's efforts to coordinate economic development and redevelopment projects, programs and initiatives that attract new capital investments, broaden the City's economic base, and create quality jobs for the community.

The incumbent will work in collaboration with internal staff and external customers, and should possess knowledge of Phoenix ordinances, codes, policies and development processes.

SALARY

Pay Range: $64,313.60 to $99,736.00 annually.

Hiring Range: $64,313.60 to $86,153.60 annually.

  • Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
  • Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
  • Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
  • Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
  • When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in governmental research, urban development, finance or public administration.
  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, urban planning, architecture, engineering, economics or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Preferred Qualifications

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Experience developing and managing consultant contracts and development agreements.
  • Experience handling administrative and clerical tasks in a project-focused environment.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders on development projects or initiatives.
  • Experience developing and managing consultant contracts and development agreements.
  • Experience presenting material to external audiences or community groups.
