Job description

Role Purpose

Focus will be on the development of robust process machine systems that provide significant competitive advantage to Corning’s businesses, and / or enable new products and product lines (prototype and production capable machines). This position will support some or all of Corning Incorporated’s divisions.

The individual will be leading matrixed project teams on early-stage innovation projects, through concept generation, technology development, detail design/build, installation, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cross‑functional project teams from concept generation, technology development, detail design / build, and start‑up in manufacturing
  • Estimate costs and time required to accomplish tasks and manage project scope, budget and schedule
  • Identify the project resources necessary to complete the tasks and coordinate the teams’ efforts
  • Integrate commercially available technologies and processes and effectively leverage external machine builders and system integrators
  • Interface with internal R&D, Division Engineering and manufacturing customers
  • Work with other project team members on solving difficult mechanical engineering related problems, understanding project related issues, and general process engineering and process understanding
  • Utilize internal lab facilities and equipment to develop proof of concept prototypes
  • Execute project assignments with minimal supervision
Required Education
  • BS Mechanical, Electrical or other Engineering discipline (B.S. minimum) with 10+ years of engineering preferred

Demonstrated project leadership experience with ability to achieve results preferably through a highly matrixed project team

Ability to clearly communicate technical content to broad audiences and provide concise project strategies, resources needs, and status updates

Technical leadership skills that will enable unique solutions to technical challenges

Desired Experiences
  • Bachelor of Science (Engineering) or Masters of Science (Engineering or Applied Science)
  • Black belt (6 Sigma or Innovation) training
  • Project and/or manufacturing financial management knowledge
  • Knowledge of Innovation Stage‑gate processes

The range for this position is $97,542.00–$134,121.00 assuming full‑time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
