Job summary

Kansas City Public Schools is looking for a Secondary Teacher for Career Technical Education in engineering and pathways to energy. Department: Career Technical Education

Reports To: School Administrator-CTE

FLSA Status: Exempt

Purpose Of Job

Provides instruction in the content area to students in the engineering and pathways to energy.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute lesson plans that lead toward student achievement of competencies in the area of expertise.
  • Develop and update, as needed, the curriculum for the content program
  • Prepare orders for the purchase of supplies, tools, equipment, and instructional materials necessary to support the learning activities of the program
  • Maintain inventory and repair records, and ensure the safe and proper operation and maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Maintain an Advisory Board and keep records of meeting notices, meeting agendas, and meeting minutes
  • Remain informed of new trends, methods, materials, tools, and equipment in the content area
  • Actively participate in all professional development activities as required by Kansas City Public Schools
  • Integrate Career & Technical Student Organization (C.T.S.O.) leadership activities into the area of content
  • Other job‑related duties as assigned by the building leadership
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and four thousand (4000) hours of department-approved, closely related occupational experience within the past ten (10) years, or
  • 60 Credit Hours or an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and five thousand (5000) hours of department-approved, closely related occupational experience within the past ten (10) years;
  • Valid certificates completed as applicable (CPR, culinary, business, safety, etc)
  • Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Substitute certification
  • Previous experience as a classroom teacher
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience in an urban setting
  • Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Career Education Certification in the content area
