  • This role will manage telecommunications and infrastructure projects supporting transmission, substations, generation, facilities, and other regional enterprise operations.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 60 smaller projects in different stages of planning and execution. Not all assigned projects will require active management simultaneously, and some may remain open over multiple years.
  • Coordinate project scope, schedules, milestones, risks, dependencies, materials, resources, action items, and follow-up activities.
  • Support infrastructure projects involving fiber, data communications, routers, switches, multiplexers, RF systems, DC power, equipment racks, and related substation technologies.
  • Manage projects involving equipment installations, technology refreshes, router and switch replacements, fiber construction and splicing, data drops, and new substation telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate and timely project documentation, dates, status updates, decisions, risks, dependencies, and action items in JIRA.
  • Prepare for and lead effective project kickoff meetings, status meetings, transmission calls, and coordination discussions.
  • Gather the necessary project information and secure appropriate resources before meetings and scheduled field activities.
  • Partner closely with implementation coordinators, engineers, technicians, field teams, fiber teams, outside plant resources, data transport teams, RF teams, vendors, and internal customers.
  • Monitor project schedules and proactively identify delays or dependencies involving materials, engineering, construction, outages, fiber splicing, or field resources.
  • Follow up consistently with project participants and escape issues when project commitments or transmission dates are at risk.
  • Ensure equipment and materials arrive, are inspected, and are ready before scheduled installation or fieldwork.
  • Provide concise weekly updates covering project status, upcoming activities, risks, dependencies, outstanding actions, and expected work over the next two to four weeks.
  • Develop a working understanding of the utility transmission environment and the telecommunications products and services supporting internal business customers.
  • Track project budgets, forecasts, estimates, purchase requests, invoices, and cost variances when required.
  • Support occasional customer meetings, site visits, and field-coordination activities throughout the assigned Florida territory.
  • Ask appropriate questions during transmission and project meetings to identify changes that could indirectly affect telecommunications schedules or delivery dates.
Required Qualifications
  • At least four years of project management or closely related project coordination experience supporting infrastructure, telecommunications, utilities, construction, facilities, generation, transmission, substations, solar, renewable energy, or enterprise IT projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume portfolio of smaller projects in different stages of completion.
  • Experience maintaining project schedules, milestones, status, risks, dependencies, decisions, action items, and follow-up activities.
  • Experience preparing for, facilitating, and documenting project meetings.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple teams, resources, materials, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Ability to follow up persistently with engineers, field personnel, vendors, and other project participants.
  • Ability to recognize schedule risks, ask appropriate questions, and escape issues before they affect project delivery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear and concise stakeholder updates.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating closely with an implementation coordinator and technical teams.
  • Basic understanding of telecommunications or network infrastructure, including familiarity with routers, switches, fiber, or similar technologies.
  • Willingness and ability to learn transmission operations, substation infrastructure, telecommunications terminology, and internal project processes.
  • Experience using JIRA or a comparable project-management and work-tracking platform.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally for meetings, site visits, and field coordination.
  • Ability to work onsite in the St. Petersburg office three days per week. Tuesday is mandatory, Wednesday is strongly preferred, and the third onsite day will be coordinated with the team.
  • Ability to support occasional field activities that may require PPE, lifting, and climbing ladders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project management experience supporting electric utility transmission, substations, or generation projects.
  • Telecommunications project management experience in a utility, field, construction, or enterprise environment.
  • Experience coordinating fiber construction, fiber splicing, outside plant work, construction windows, transmission outages, technician dispatches, equipment installations, or site activities.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications infrastructure such as data networking, routers, switches, transport equipment, multiplexers, RF technologies, DC power systems, and fiber optics.
  • Familiarity with OPGW fiber, SEL ICON equipment, Ciena transport equipment, point-to-point microwave, or similar utility telecommunications technologies.
