Under the direction of designated project leadership, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and engaging with clients and teams in delivering services to creatively solve problems. You will perform with a high degree of latitude for a 2.0+ million square foot healthcare facility at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Rochester, MN.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Provide leadership to the client and project team in establishing project goals and vision.
- Lead interior design efforts across multiple projects.
- Manage the design development process through all project phases, including pursuit, programming, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
- Assess client needs, analyze, and document design objectives and spatial requirements.
- Lead the interior design approach within the project team.
- Develop conceptual and detailed interior space designs.
- Coordinate project design work and ensure code compliance.
- Collaborate with other disciplines such as architecture, engineering, and consultants.
- Review drawings and support functions to meet project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Oversee and produce design visualizations.
- Assist or lead in project planning, including work plan and budget development.
- Create and manage the schedule for interior design components.
- Participate in client meetings and maintain positive client and team relationships.
- Implement and enforce interior design standards across all project phases.
- Lead the development of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) specifications.
- Mentor less experienced interior design staff.
- Promote design leadership and collaborate with design leadership.
- Consult with product vendors.
- Participate in marketing activities such as proposal development and interviews.
- Engage in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittals and shop drawings, and conducting punch lists.
- Perform other duties as required.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture.
- At least 8 years of related experience.
- Current NCIDQ certification preferred.
- Ability to lead interior design efforts across multiple projects.
- Strong design, storytelling, technical skills, and knowledge of building and life safety codes.
- Excellent presentation, organizational, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Experience leading high-performing teams is a plus.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Qualified to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity.
- Proficiency in Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Professional business attire for client meetings (e.g., suits, ties, dresses).
The salary range for this position in the Chicago office is $81,955.00 - $102,398.00 annually. This range represents the expected base salary, but actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, and location. Employees may be eligible for bonuses.
