Job summary

Digital Realty's Project Facilitator, Capital Projects Engineer sits on the site-level Data Center Operations team and reports to the Capital Manager. You will manage capital improvement projects and vendors, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery while coordinating with operations to upgrade critical equipment in our mission-critical facilities.

This is a technical, fast-paced role requiring strong communication, HVAC, electrical knowledge, and experience with data center infrastructure.

Qualifications

Your role

The Project Facilitator, Capital Projects Engineer position is a member of the site level Data Center Operations team assigned to one or more of our data center properties reporting directly to the Capital Manager.The role will give you the opportunity to expand your skills and experience working on mission critical infrastructure facilities operations for the largest wholesale data center provider in the world. What you’ll do

As the Project Facilitator, Capital Projects Engineer,you will be expected to manage capital improvement projects and the vendors that support each of the associated projects. You will ensure projects are completed on-time and on budget, as well as, work with operations teams to ensure proper upgrade of critical and noncritical equipment. The service you provide will be to the underlying support systems (facilities, power, cooling, etc) for employee’s and customer’s so you will not be expected to do any computer maintenance—the customers do that for themselves.

Some of your specific responsibilities will include:

• Develop Scope of Work, project schedule, and Critical Path.
• Upgrading/replacing building infrastructure systems.
• Assemble and level RFPs from multiple contractors for various capital projects
• Collecting Change Management Forms and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
• Scheduling capital projects with vendors.
• Ensuring compliance with all safety procedures and use of protective equipment.
• Performing Quality Assurance inspections on projects once started.
• Assisting and mentoring the Capital Project team members.
• Manage and leverage vendors to provide the highest quality project for the best price.

This is a technical job and it is heavy on the project and vendor management, but there are a number of diverse pieces to doing the job well. To excel in this role you should have an understanding of data center construction etiquette, HVAC, electrical, F/A, large chillers, diesel generators, cooling towers, UPS systems, large batteries, and more. You may be in front of customers, so you’ll also need to be able to present yourself well and have great communication skills.

What you’ll need

• At least 5 years’ experience managing projects, workflows, and understanding vendor/contractor management.
• Data Center knowledge and experience
• An associate’s degree (AA/AS) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with Procore project management and CMMS type software a plus but not required.
• A facilities maintenance understanding.
• Experience demonstrating an ability to manage a small team handling multiple projects at different sites.
• Experience working with mission critical data equipment, and the willingness to work in a fast-paced, mission critical environment.
• Strong HVAC, mechanical, and electrical skills and experience.
• An understanding of computer systems, and skill with Microsoft Office products.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to follow instructions and processes precisely and carefully.
• The ability to walk around a good deal of the time to perform inspections, to do some work outdoors in the weather if needed.

Our published pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and geographical location. Moreover, an employee’s total compensation package varies by role and may include salary, cash bonus or commissions, and equity awards not quantified below.

Compensation range:$46.15.00-$49.08 per hour. This compensation range represents the Company’s good faith belief as to what it will pay as anhourly ratefor this position at the time of this posting.
