Job summary

Bechtel in Houston seeks an Operations Specialist to handle project expediting, vendor communication, and schedule interpretation to ensure timely material and equipment delivery. You will initiate supplier data, monitor progress, and resolve delays with proactive actions in a dynamic environment.

The role requires at least a High School/GED and a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 2–5 years (or 6–9 years) of relevant experience, plus strong procurement and coordination skills.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in the administration and expediting of purchase orders.
• Proficiency in procurement, supplier communication, and negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Performs more complex expediting activities on a project, in a support office, or at a jobsite to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project needs
• Contacts suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data and to follow-up on material acquisition, production progress and shipment
• Interprets production schedules and progress reports to ensure they are realistic, that required activities occur on time, and that interface between activities is maintained
• Coordinates with planning and scheduling, field material coordinators or jobsite project expeditors and construction to establish priorities, sequences and required delivery dates and instructs suppliers accordingly
• Expedites Bechtel engineering for the timely review, approval and return of engineering data submitted by suppliers
• Participates in pre- and post-award meetings to review and discuss schedules and potential problem areas that may impact required shipment dates
• Coordinates shipping arrangements or tracking requests with the project Logistics representative
