Job summary

J. Benton Construction,LLC is seeking a Project Executive to provide executive leadership and strategic oversight across multiple construction projects, guiding them from preconstruction to closeout.

The role sets priorities, drives profitability, ensures safety and quality, and strengthens client relationships. You will mentor project teams, support business development, and help improve project management practices while adhering to company standards and safety programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years of construction project leadership experience in CM/CM-at-Risk or general contracting.
• Proven track record leading multiple project teams on large-scale or complex projects.
• Accountability for safety, quality, schedule, and financial performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight of multiple projects, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, profitability, and client satisfaction.
• Lead business development efforts, including pursuit strategy and client interviews.
• Direct preconstruction and delivery strategies with estimating and operations teams.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships with owners and stakeholders.
• Negotiate owner contracts and oversee subcontractor contracts.
• Identify and resolve critical project issues to drive success.
• Develop and mentor project leadership teams and support performance management.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, safety programs, and SOPs.

Position Description

The Project Executive (PX) is responsible for providing executive leadership and strategic oversight across multiple construction projects, ensuring successful delivery from preconstruction through closeout. This role establishes operational priorities, drives financial performance, ensures safety and quality excellence, andstrengthensclient relationships. The Project Executive leads and develops project teams, supports business development initiatives, and contributes to the continuous improvement of project management practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight of multiple projects, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, schedule, profitability, and client satisfaction goals.
• Lead business development efforts, including pursuit strategy, proposal development, and participation in client interviews
• Direct preconstruction and delivery strategies in partnership with estimating and operations teams
• Establish and maintain strong client relationships with owners, OPMs, consultants, and key stakeholders
• Negotiate owner contracts and oversee subcontractor contract administration
• Identify and resolve critical project issues to achieve operational and financial success
• Develop, mentor, and evaluate project leadership teams, supporting performance management and professional growth
• Ensure compliance with company standards, safety programs, and operating procedures
• Contribute to organizational growth through talent development and continuous improvement initiatives
• Utilize industry relationships to generate leads and support business development

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related fieldpreferred or equivalent experience
• 15+ years of experience in construction project leadership within a CM, CM-at-Risk, or general contracting environment
• Proven experience leading multiple project teams on large-scale or complex construction projects
• Demonstrated accountability for project safety, quality, schedule, and financial performance

Preferred Experience

• Master’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business.
• Experience supporting or leading business development pursuits and client interviews.
• Familiarity with construction cost reporting systems and financial controls.
• Experience using construction management and scheduling software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6).
• Experience working withpublic‑sector, federal, or complex stakeholder projects.
• Prior experience contributing to the development or implementation of project management SOPs.

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and sun exposure
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work on uneven terrain for extended periodsAbility to navigate active construction sites with changing ground conditions and elevations
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolding, and other access equipment as required
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary for this position is one component of J. Benton Construction’s total compensation package. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including a candidate’s skills, experience, education, relevant qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.
