Job summary

Benchmark Construction seeks a Project Estimator to develop accurate estimates from plans, specs, and drawings for commercial projects in Lancaster, PA. You will perform takeoffs, analyze costs, and craft competitive pricing while collaborating with subcontractors, architects, engineers, and owners.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years’ estimating experience, a construction background, and proficiency with tools like Bluebeam, SmartBid, Destini, or Procore.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
• 1–3 years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Understanding of commercial construction methods, budgeting, and estimating principles.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, and drawings to understand project scope and develop accurate estimates from the ground up.
• Perform takeoffs, identify labor and material requirements, and uncover scope gaps.
• Analyze costs, compare subcontractor proposals, and develop pricing for smart, profitable decisions.
• Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, engineers, and owners to gather information and clarify scope.
• Balance project vision, constructability, and budget to deliver value for clients.
• Identify risks, resolve cost discrepancies, and develop practical solutions before issues arise.
• Support value engineering efforts and find ways to meet project goals within budget.
• Partner with estimators, project managers, and operations teams for complete scopes and smooth handoffs.
• Prepare estimates, recommendations, and pricing information to aid leadership decisions.
• Maintain accurate estimate files, backup documentation, and project records for easy access.
