Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a York Custom Air Handling Unit Project Engineer to lead a team of technical professionals, providing field commercial and design support for AHU projects.

You will review specifications, develop delivery-ready drawings, and ensure designs meet performance and profitability targets. The role requires a BS in Engineering (ABET) with 10+ years in HVAC design, strong communication, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, and Microsoft Office.

• BS degree in Engineering (ABET accredited) or related science.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in HVAC design or related field.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with employees and customers at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 4-12 Project Engineers and provide technical leadership.
• Provide commercial, competitive and technical support to field sales on Custom Air Handling Units.
• Review project specifications, schedules, and design drawings for accuracy.
• Create accurate drawings of customized AHU configurations reflecting customer intent.
• Analyze product requirements and develop alternative designs.
• Lead customer site visits and support sales presentations.

BASIC FUNCTION

The York Custom Air Handling Unit Project Engineer is a recognized subject matter expert and authority. Performs a full range of field commercial and technical support functions including assignments requiring special qualifications/attainments.

York Custom Air Handling Units, by Johnson Controls, provide design flexibility that balances performance and economy without compromising quality. The Custom Project and Application Engineering Design/Bid/Submit/Release Team Leader is a recognized domain specialist and authority within our Air Handling product business unit. In this role you will actively participate and lead a team of technical employees in a full range of field commercial and technical support functions including assignments requiring special qualifications/attainments in an effort to support our external representation sales team and lead them to optimal sales success and profitability.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the highest level of business ethics and integrity.

• Serve as working manager for team of 4-12 Project Engineers.
• Provide commercial, competitive and technical application support to the field sales organization on all aspects of Custom Air Handling Units with minimal direction.
• Gather competitive intelligence and industry information on an ongoing basis.
• Perform detailed review of project specifications, schedule, and design drawings.
• Provide technical project qualification of Custom AHU design and bid opportunities.
• Create accurate drawings of customized AHU configurations that reflect customer design intent.
• Ensure the design and layout of the AHU will function as intended.
• Analyze product requirements and develop alternative innovative designs.
• Use complex problem-solving techniques requiring regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
• Provide application and sales training and project management, as required, on Air Handling Systems for the field sales organization.
• Provide technical direction for other engineers, detailers or technicians on specific work assignments.
• Have a strong understanding of the Custom AHU finances and levers required to maximize profitability and minimize risk at all stages of a project.
• Lead Customer Visits (factory tours) and support Customer sales presentations (Engineers and end Customers.)
• Assist Airside Technical Service with field application issues as necessary.
• Work with Marketing and Product Management to develop selection and pricing software requirements and participate in testing of AHU selection and pricing software.
• Review and analyze engineering rules and documents as necessary.
• Recommend cost savings and value engineering alternatives for Air Handling Units and systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies and systems analysis for new applications as necessary.
• Be proficient at preparing, checking, and coordinating the release of documentation to support Custom Air Handling products.

SALARY: $125,000- $175,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
