Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager, Asc to lead a team delivering Ground Support Equipment (GSE) for spacecraft and missile systems. You will guide SMEs in GSE production, scope and plan BOEs, and coordinate with Space LOBs to ensure timely, within-budget delivery.

The role requires strong collaboration across Product Centers, AI&T, and Operations, with a focus on end-to-end estimating and cross-functional program execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Final Top Secret clearance required before start.
  • Experience with new business activities and proposal development.
  • Experience with writing BOEs and justifications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using project management tools, such as MS Project or similar.
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain relationships with Product Center, AI&T, Operations, and GSE Talent Centers to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Coordinate Space LOBs opportunities, BOEs, Top level Plans and support EPPs.
  • Guide SMEs for GSE production: Mechanical Ground Support Equipment, Electrical Ground Support Equipment, and Special Test Equipment.
  • Implement strategies for GSE estimating processes, reduce costs, and enhance quality of BOEs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure GSE products meet customer requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Develop schedules and resource allocation plans for GSE New Business.

Lockheed Martin Space’s Engineering & Technology (E&T) organization is seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager, Asc to lead a team responsible for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) used in the assembly, integration, and test of spacecraft and missile systems.

In this role, the selected candidate lead a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) focused on developing new business proposals and delivering high‑quality GSE solutions to Space Lines of Business (LOBs). The Project Engineering Manager will guide the team through scoping, planning, and writing BOEs for GSE efforts that directly enable vehicle assembly, test and launch operations.

This position requires strong collaboration skills. The candidate will build and maintain relationships with key partners across the Product Centers, Assembly Integration & Test (AI&T), Operations, and GSE Talent Centers. They will also coordinate new business activities across Space LOBs to ensure alignment, consistency, and successful delivery of GSE products that meet program needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and build relationships with Product Center, AI&T, Operations, and GSE Talent Centers to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Coordinate new business activities within the Space LOBs, including identifying opportunities, develop and validate BOEs, generate Top level Plans and support EPPs.
  • Guide SMEs for GSE production, including Mechanical Ground Support Equipment, Electrical Ground Support Equipment, and Special Test Equipment
  • Implement strategies for GSE estimating processes, reduce costs, and enhance quality of BOEs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that GSE products meet customer requirements and are properly estimated to be delivered on time and within budget
  • Ability to think systemically, considering the entire project lifecycle and all interconnected components, to drive comprehensive and accurate end‑to‑end estimating.
  • Develop schedules, and resource allocation plans for GSE New Business.

Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organizing, control, integration and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Plans and formulates engineering program and organizes project staff according to requirements. Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related technical field) or equivalent experience/combined education
  • Final Top Secret clearance required prior to start
  • Experience with new business activities and proposal development
  • Experience with writing BOEs and justifications
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
  • Experience in using project management tools, such as MS Project or similar
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Desired Skills
  • Experience in the aerospace or defense industry
  • Experience in working with Production Operations and/ or AI&T.
  • Knowledge of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) production, attest in one area: Mechanical, Electrical, or Special Test Equipment
  • Experience with GenBoe tool.
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay Information

Full‑Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00
