The role emphasizes leading design groups, managing resources, and delivering technical specifications while ensuring compliance with codes. Four days per week in office in Florida.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering with Florida P.E. license.
  • 8+ years in a consulting engineering firm; 2+ years with an active P.E.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, project management and industry standards for pipeline, lift station, and Water/Wastewater facility design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, design, and production of lift stations, pipelines and Water/Wastewater systems.
  • Coordinate design group and provide scopes to Project Managers.
  • Develop resource, labor, materials, and time estimates and action plans.
  • Prepare deliverables including plans, reports, and specs.
  • Supervise junior engineers and oversee construction administration as Engineer of Record.
  • Monitor costs and progress; prepare monthly reports for management.

Job description

The Senior Project Engineer (Utilities-IV) is responsible for directing the engineering design team in a variety of Water/Wastewater and general public facility projects throughout the entire cycle from initial concept through successful completion. This role involves coordinating the efforts of the engineering team, contractors, and project managers to achieve project goals efficiently. The Project Engineer will ensure all aspects of the project design, from planning to final delivery, are met within budget and meeting the required quality standards.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Lead/manage the planning, design, and production of lift station, pipeline and/or Water/Wastewater treatment systems, overseeing others and providing Project Managers with scopes, ensuring alignment with goals, schedules, and budget

  • Lead the design group during the conceptual phase of product development following client standards and templates

  • Direct development of an action plan and estimate requirements for resources management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project

  • Development of deliverables including plans, design reports and technical specifications

  • Supervision of junior engineers in evaluation of shop drawings, and oversight of construction administration duties as the Engineer of Record

  • Monitor progress of development project and compare actual costs with estimates

  • Prepare monthly reports detailing progress and costs for next level management

  • Work with Project Managers to develop scope and manhour estimates for various projects

  • Review and study existing equipment, facilities, systems, and processes to improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs

  • Periodic travel to perform business development, project management, site investigations, and construction observation

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external clients


  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with Deltek VantagePoint and Smartsheet or similar platforms

  • Ability to effectively lead and inspire a team

  • Comfortable working and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team

  • Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills

  • Knowledge of codes and design and construction practices

  • Detail oriented, quality conscious, reliable and self-motivated

Education and Experience
  • B.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering with a P.E. License in the state of Florida

  • At least 8+ years of relevant experience in a consulting engineering firm with 2+ years with an active P.E. license

  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, project management and industry standards as it relates to pipeline, lift station, and/or Water/Wastewater facility design

This role requires 4 days per week in office.
