Job summary

Ellison-Mills Contracting in Tucson seeks a Project Engineer Water/Wastewater to support field operations and project coordination on underground utility construction.

You will read plans, assist PMs and Superintendents, manage RFIs and submittals, track costs, and help prepare schedules. This role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and adherence to OSHA safety practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of water and wastewater construction experience.
• Ability to read construction plans, specs and project documents.
• Experience supporting day-to-day project coordination with PMs and superintendents.
• Experience preparing and tracking RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project docs.
• Ability to visit active construction sites and support field personnel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project schedules, quantities, cost tracking, and progress reporting.
• Coordinate with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and safety practices.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and correspondence.
• Communicate effectively to resolve issues and prevent conflicts.

Project Engineer Water/Wastewater (Tucson)

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in water and wastewater construction
• Experience supporting the construction of underground utilities, including waterlines, sewer, storm drain, force mains, and related infrastructure
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documents
• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination and administration
• Experience preparing and tracking RFIs, submittals, change orders, project documentation, and correspondence
• Ability to assist with project schedules, quantities, cost tracking, and progress reporting
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential construction conflicts or issues
• Experience coordinating with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel
• Ability to visit active construction sites and support field operations as needed
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction safety practices
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment
• Valid driver's license required
