JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: PROJECT ENGINEER - WATER/WASTEWATER TREATMENT

LOCATION: Auburn Hills, MI

OBJECTIVE

The function of this position is to assist the project team with scheduling, project buyout, estimating, document control and management of self-perform teams and subcontractors in the Industrial and Heavy Commercial Markets. This could entail one large project at a time or several small to medium size projects at once. Project delivery methods may include Self-Perform, General Contracting or Construction Management. Project sizes ranging from $25,000 to $10,000,000 USD and may include some travel. Location varies from office to part-time office/jobsite to full time jobsite.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Demonstrate commitment to CCC's people-based safety culture and adhere to the requirements outlined in the CCC corporate safety manual.
  2. Ensure compliance with all CCC standard operating procedures (ISO) for estimating, purchasing, and project control.
  3. Collaborate with the client’s project management team, CCC Project Executive, Senior Project Manager(s), Project Manager(s), Site Safety Professional(s), trade subcontractors, local authorities, and designers/engineers to achieve project success.
  4. Maintain and update document controls as needed, including pre-construction documents, submittals, RFIs/DCRs, punch lists, and closeout materials.
  5. Support project scheduling using Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  6. Assist with project buyout and startup activities.
  7. Prepare letters of intent, purchase orders, and master sub-agreements as required.
  8. Manage the project submittal process, including drafting submittal logs for PM review, processing vendor and subcontractor submittals, and maintaining the log throughout the project.
  9. Verify shop drawings and communicate submittal status to the Project Manager and team.
  10. Contribute to estimating efforts, including budgets, bulletins, and change request/field order quotations.
  11. Assist with coordinating self-perform and subcontractor scopes with field supervision.
  12. Support job cost tracking and management.
  13. Participate in project closeout activities.
  14. Maintain positive and open relationships with customers.
  15. Travel may be required.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  1. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  2. 1-3 years related experience and/or internship(s) with a General Contracting/Construction Management organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  3. Knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office suite, FTP sites and document control programs.
  4. Knowledge of Sage 300, Procore, or Prolog is preferred.
  5. Strong communication, planning, organizational, and teamwork skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. Fast-paced, busy, and occasionally noisy work environment.
  2. May involve managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  3. May require outdoor work with exposure to various weather conditions.
  4. Occasional work in high or precarious places, near fumes or airborne particles, or handling toxic chemicals.
  5. Risk of electrical shock and vibration may occur in certain situations.
  6. Frequent interruptions to address team members’ needs and vendor requests.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Frequent travel by motor vehicle may be required.
  2. Extended hours on construction sites may necessitate physical stamina for navigating the premises.
  3. Effective and professional communication with supervisors, employees, and others, both individually and in a team setting, is essential.
  4. Strict adherence to safety protocols and the ability to follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment guidelines, and company policies, is required to perform work safely and effectively.
