Job summary

Markent Personnel is seeking a Project Engineer for a northern New Jersey manufacturer of water and wastewater process equipment. The role owns projects end-to-end—from order receipt through shipment—balancing schedule and budget while interfacing with consulting engineers, contractors, municipalities, and end users.

This position requires time in the office and at the nearby fabrication shop, with occasional customer site visits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 4+ years of project engineering experience in manufacturing, water and wastewater, or public works.
• Hands-on ownership of engineered equipment projects end to end.
• Strong ability to read and review fabrication drawings.
• Highly organized with strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineered equipment projects from order receipt through shipment, holding schedule and budget.
• Serve as the customer-facing engineer on each project, working with consulting engineers, contractors, municipalities, and end users.
• Prepare and manage submittal packages, O&M documentation, project schedules, and internal coordination across sales, engineering, purchasing, and production.
• Work with public works requirements: specifications, prevailing wage, compliance, and approvals.
• Coordinate daily with the in-house fabrication shop and outside fabricators on drawings, build sequencing, and inspections.
• Review drawings and designs for fit, function, and manufacturability before they reach the shop.
• Participate in weekly project engineering and fabrication meetings to keep the backlog moving.
