Job summary

LJA Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to apply conventional engineering principles to water and wastewater plant design in North Texas.

You will perform design calculations, prepare plans and specifications, coordinate with agencies, and support projects ranging from defined scopes to major efforts. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s Degree, a PE license, at least 5 years of experience, and strong communication and relationship-building skills to collaborate with internal and

Position Overview

As a Project Engineer at LJA Land Development, you will apply conventional engineering principles to water and wastewater plant design. Responsibilities include design calculations, plan and specification preparation, agency coordination, and project support ranging from defined scopes to major phases of larger efforts.

A Typical Day
  • Planning and designing municipal wastewater treatment, water treatment, and distribution systems
  • Developing calculations, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation
  • Conceptualizing initial design approaches for large projects or leading work on limited‑scope projects
  • Coordinating with internal clients to gather required information and ensure alignment
  • Scheduling and coordinating engineering tasks while addressing complex or conflicting requirements
  • Adapting and modifying standard engineering techniques through independent judgment
  • Providing supervision and mentoring to less experienced engineers and technical support staff
  • Supporting project management efforts to ensure successful delivery
Required Education/License/Certifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of post‑graduate engineering experience
  • Experience with water and wastewater plant design
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience exercising independent judgment in engineering design and problem solving
