Job summary

Abbott Construction LLC. in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Project Engineer to support the Project Manager and Superintendent across all project phases. You will manage submittals, RFIs, and change orders while helping with planning and scheduling to meet deadlines.

The role requires a 4-year construction degree, 2 years of project engineering experience, and a focus on process ownership. Full-time position with salary range of $78,000 to $105,000 and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

Manage submittal process and maintain records.
Oversee RFI process and change order proposals.
Provide research and support to PM and Superintendent.
Complete budget revisions in Viewpoint as needed.
Support safety programs aligned with company values.
Coordinate planning, scheduling and project coordination.
Assist estimating with subcontractor outreach and plan distribution.
Serve as main point of contact for subcontractors.
May act as Project Manager when PM is unavailable.

Job description

The Project Engineer (PE) shall support the Project Manager (PM), and Superintendent (Supt) as required for them to meet their goals through all phases of a project.

Primary Duties

Responsible for managing the submittal process
Responsible for managing the RFI process
Responsible for managing the change order proposal process
Provide research, backup support, legwork, data entry etc. as requested by the PM and Supt
Complete budget revisions and modifications in Viewpoint as required throughout the job
Assist to maintain a high level of safety in alignment with Abbott's core values
Ability to combine knowledge of engineering methods, construction methods and human management skills
Provide support for planning, scheduling and coordinating projects to meet deadlines
Offer support to the estimating department by soliciting subcontractors for projects as well as managing and distributing plans
Be the main point of contact for subcontractors as requested by the Project Manager
If needed, act as a Project Manager when a Project Manager is unavailable

Required Skills

Strong negotiation and leadership skills
Understands accounting, financial statements, job cost, and cash flow

Required Qualifications

Must be able to pass a drug test
4-year degree in a construction related major
Motivated for a long-term career in construction
2 years' project engineering experience
Preferred experience in healthcare construction and fast-paced construction managing multiple projects concurrently
A focus on following processes and procedures, taking ownership of the role, and not being afraid of difficult conversations and relaying bad news when required

The full salary range for this position is $78,000 to $105,000.This position is eligible for a target bonus

Sick leave accrues at one (1) hour for every 30 hours worked. Accrual for sick leave is capped at 240 hours. At the end of each calendar year, you will be allowed to carry over accrued and unused sick leave up to 240 hours. You will not begin accruing sick leave until you drop below the accrual cap.
