Job summary

STO Building Group is seeking a Project Engineer in Seattle to support the Project Manager and Superintendent through all project phases. This role emphasizes submittals, RFIs, change orders, budgeting, planning, and coordinating activities to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities include coordinating with subcontractors, supporting estimating, ensuring safety aligns with company values, and potentially stepping in as Project Manager when needed.

Qualifications

  • Must have 4-year degree in a construction related major.
  • 2+ years of project engineering experience.
  • Motivated for a long-term career in construction.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the submittal process.
  • Manage the RFI process.
  • Manage the change order proposal process.
  • Provide research, backup support, legwork, data entry as requested by PM/Supt.
  • Complete budget revisions in Viewpoint.
  • Support planning, scheduling, and coordination to meet deadlines.
  • Solicit subcontractors and distribute plans for projects.
  • Be the main contact for subcontractors as requested by PM.
  • May act as Project Manager when PM is unavailable.

The Project Engineer (PE) shall support the Project Manager (PM), and Superintendent (Supt) as required for them to meet their goals through all phases of a project.

The Project Engineer (PE) shall support the Project Manager (PM), and Superintendent (Supt) as required for them to meet their goals through all phases of a project.

Primary Duties
  • Responsible for managing the submittal process
  • Responsible for managing the RFI process
  • Responsible for managing the change order proposal process
  • Provide research, backup support, legwork, data entry etc. as requested by the PM and Supt
  • Complete budget revisions and modifications in Viewpoint as required throughout the job
  • Assist to maintain a high level of safety in alignment with Abbott's core values
  • Ability to combine knowledge of engineering methods, construction methods and human management skills
  • Provide support for planning, scheduling and coordinating projects to meet deadlines
  • Offer support to the estimating department by soliciting subcontractors for projects as well as managing and distributing plans
  • Be the main point of contact for subcontractors as requested by the Project Manager
  • If needed, act as a Project Manager when a Project Manager is unavailable
Required Skills
  • Strong negotiation and leadership skills
  • Understands accounting, financial statements, job cost, and cash flow
Required Qualifications
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • 4-year degree in a construction related major
  • Motivated for a long-term career in construction
  • 2+ years of project engineering experience
  • Preferred experience in TI or grocery construction and fast-paced construction managing multiple projects concurrently
  • A focus on following processes and procedures, taking ownership of the role, and not being afraid of difficult conversations and relaying bad news when required

The full salary range for this position is $78,000 to $105,000. This position is eligible for a target bonus

Note

Sick leave accrues at one (1) hour for every 30 hours worked. Accrual for sick leave is capped at 240 hours. At the end of each calendar year, you will be allowed to carry over accrued and unused sick leave up to 240 hours. You will not begin accruing sick leave until you drop below the accrual cap.
