Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers seeks a Project Engineer in Nashville, TN to lead technical design and engineering execution across projects within the service area. You will own technical deliverables from concept to final design, ensuring constructability, compliance, and quality while balancing budget and schedule.

You will mentor junior staff, coordinate across disciplines, and collaborate with clients and agencies to deliver successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and produce complete engineering designs, including plans, specifications, reports, calculations, and estimates, per codes and project requirements.
• Evaluate design options, apply engineering judgment, and select cost- and schedule-conscious solutions.
• Coordinate technical work with project managers, internal disciplines, subconsultants, and external stakeholders.
• Review and oversee work prepared by engineers, EITs, designers, and technicians for accuracy and quality.
• Prepare and review technical reports and documentation using standard engineering tools.
• Mentor junior staff and support their professional development.
• Lead traffic and transportation design tasks, including intersection geometry, signing, pavement markings, and traffic control.
• Prepare and review traffic studies such as traffic impact analyses, safety assessments, and operational evaluations.
• Coordinate with agencies on traffic design standards, approvals, and reviews.

Job Description:Project EngineerOverviewThe Project Engineer is a licensed Professional Engineer responsible for leading technical design and engineering execution on projects within their assigned service area. This role takes full ownership of technical deliverables from concept through final design, ensuring accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
