Detailed Description
A candidate for a Project Engineering position at JFW will require a self-motivated individual to accept the challenges and demands of a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. This includes bid build construction and design-build construction on both public and private projects. The candidate should possess qualities to meet or exceed client expectations, develop client relationships, and lead the engineering field team to successful project completion.
Responsibilities
- Project Startup: Conduct regular meetings with PM/Super, Clients, and CM; review bids for construction assumptions; support control estimate setup; prepare deliverables; manage early submittals such as schedules, quality control plans, safety plans, and flow charts; obtain permits; build and assign responsibilities to the team; develop a working knowledge of plans and specifications; set up field office, IT requirements, SharePoint, and file management; scope POs and subcontractors.
- Project Duration: Manage client meetings and relationships; run weekly staff job meetings; review schedules; control costs through reports and forecasting; process online invoices and requisitions; manage office engineers, surveyors, and office manager; support project manager and superintendent; oversee submittals, RFIs, and correspondence; develop and manage extra work costs and issue logs; implement safety work plans; plan crane lifts; present project updates; mentor junior staff; produce production reports; track quantities; approve timesheets and cost coding.
- Design-Build Considerations: Outline and track deliverables; conduct design-constructability reviews; manage release of design packages.
- Project Closeout: Manage punch list, site supervision, testing, archives, final engineering report, and final payments.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- 4-7 years of experience in construction environment, depending on project size and scope
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook
- Knowledge of CAD, BIM, HeavyBid preferred
- Experience in cost tracking, control, production reporting, submittals, RFIs, reading plans, and specifications
