Job summary

Alfred Benesch & Company in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer to join our Railroad-Bridge team as Lead Bridge Project Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical design background and strong communication skills to coordinate with stakeholders.

This hybrid role supports growth in our Railroad Division and offers mentorship opportunities, regulatory compliance, and a focus on delivering high-quality bridge projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis; MS preferred.
  • PE license or ability to obtain via reciprocity.
  • Minimum of 4 years of structural design experience.
  • Excellent communication and client relations skills.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to develop plans and specifications.
  • Strong organization and leadership with adherence to budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to perform complex analysis and design using structural software.
  • Ability to assemble a complete design package for assigned elements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and provide mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic analysis of project elements.
  • Perform load development, design calculations, and check work.
  • Prepare organized structural calculations.
  • Design structural elements and details.
  • Develop deliverables in a complete, reviewable manner.

Project Engineer - Structures / Bridges

Benesch is seeking to hire a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to join our Railroad-Bridge team as a lead Bridge Project Engineer. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Bridge professional with a solid technical design background. In addition to technical expertise, the perfect candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem‑solving. As a Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in contributing to strategic initiatives to advance our Railroad Division's growth in the region.

Benesch's Railroad Division is made up of highly skilled rail professionals, many of whom are former employees of operating railroads. This firsthand experience working on designing and maintaining active rail systems uniquely equips our team to develop innovative solutions to a wide variety of rail projects.

Location

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, with the option to work from either our Cincinnati, OH, or Jacksonville, FL office.

The Impact You Will Have
