Job summary

Benesch is seeking an experienced Structural Project Manager to join our Cincinnati, OH Railroad Division. You will lead phase 1 and 2 design projects, manage scope, schedule, and budget, and mentor staff while coordinating with clients and sub-consultants.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Civil Engineering, PE license, and 10+ years of structural engineering experience, with AREMA, Microstation, or RISA 3D knowledge.

  • PE licensure is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of structural engineering experience.
  • Proven client interaction experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AREMA Manual, Microstation, or RISA 3D.

Responsibilities

  • Lead phase 1 and phase 2 design projects with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Manage resources, mentorship, and client engagement across the Railroad Division.
  • Coordinate with sub-consultants and prepare project reports.
  • Support business development and proposals; travel to sites as needed.
  • Represent the primary interface between railroad clients and staff.

Benesch is seeking to hire an experienced Project Manager to join our Structural-Bridge group. As a Structural Project Manager, you will contribute to strategic initiatives that drive the growth of the Railroad Division by providing direct supervision, mentorship, and overall leadership.

The ideal candidate will be a seller/doer managing all parts of phase 1 and phase 2 design projects, resource planning, assisting in business development, client engagement, and proposal preparation. We are looking for a project manager who is experienced in the local office market and is looking to join a team with a deep local bench of technical design staff and bolster a national practice of talented rail professionals.

Benesch’s Railroad Division is made up of highly skilled rail professionals, many of whom are former employees of operating railroads. This firsthand experience working to design and maintain active rail systems uniquely equip our team to develop innovative solutions to a wide variety of rail projects.

This position is based at our growing Cincinnati, OH office, with the potential for a hybrid schedule.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Developing projectscope,schedule, and budget estimates
  • Identifying resources needed and effectively delegating staff duties and responsibilities
  • Demonstratingthe ability to utilize accounting and scheduling software forprojectmanagement
  • Creatingand executingprojectwork plans
  • Analyzingaccounting reports andprojectschedules for variances
  • Monitoring work for adherence to the project scope and identifying out-of-scope actions
  • Preparingand submitting projectreports toyour assigned Group and/or DivisionManager
  • Participatein contract negotiations
  • Establish client contact and maintain positive relationships
  • Serve as the primary interface between railroad clients and staff for a givenproject
  • Coordinate, monitor, and review work performed by sub‑consultants
  • Promote the team environment and communication and identify and address team conflicts
  • Networking, including activeparticipationinand leadershipofprofessional organizations
What We Are Looking For
  • BS in Civil Engineering is required
  • PE Licenserequired
  • Minimum of 10yearsof structuralengineering experience
  • Client interaction experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of AREMA Manual, Microstation, RISA 3D, or similar programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with internal staff, clients, contractors, agencies, and the public
  • Practice good time management skills, demonstrating the ability to work efficiently within time constraints while dealing with numerous concurrent activities.
  • Willingness to travel to project/work sites as necessary #LI-AG1
