Job summary

A.E.S. / Construction Worldwide in California is seeking a Project Engineer to contribute to major structural steel fabrication and erection projects across the West Coast.

You will work with project managers, engineers, detailers, and field teams through the full project lifecycle, from pre-construction to delivery and erection.

The role offers growth, hands-on coordination, problem-solving, and exposure to Lean construction and BIM tools.

Qualifications

• Experience in structural steel, construction, or related field.
• Ability to read/interpret structural drawings and shop drawings.
• Understanding of fabrication and erection processes.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Willingness to visit fabrication facilities and jobsites across California.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution.
• Review structural drawings, specifications, revisions, and shop drawings.
• Coordinate with engineers, detailers, fabricators, general contractors, and field teams.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, drawing logs, and other project documentation.
• Support Design-Assist and pre-construction activities.
• Identify and resolve technical/constructability issues.
• Track fabrication progress, material requirements, deliveries, and erection sequencing.
• Participate in project meetings and coordination efforts.
• Visit fabrication facilities and jobsites to understand project conditions.
• Assist with project schedules, cost tracking, documentation, and overall performance.
• Support Lean Construction and continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate project records in digital PM systems.
